Emi Nitta is a Japanese voice actress and singer from Nagano Prefecture, born on December 10, 1985. Her path to voice acting was rooted in a strong musical foundation. She graduated from the vocal music department of Shoin Music University and, in 2009, won a singing audition held by the talent agency S-inc, which launched her career in the entertainment industry.
Nitta made her debut as a voice actress in 2011, providing a voice for the game and OVA T.P. Sakura - Time Paladin Sakura as Kotori Shirakawa. Her first major recurring role in an anime series came the same year, playing Malga Naruze in Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere. In 2012, she voiced her first lead character in a game, Ricca Morizono in Da Capo III, and also made her debut as a solo singer with the single HEARTFUL WISH.
The role that defined her career and brought her widespread recognition came in 2013 when she was cast as Honoka Kōsaka, the protagonist of the immensely popular multimedia project Love Live! School idol project. As a member of the main cast's idol group, μ's, Nitta performed numerous songs and participated in live concerts. Her work with μ's led to the group receiving the Singing Award at the 9th Seiyu Awards in 2015 and performing on the prestigious NHK Kōhaku Uta Gassen later that year. Nitta also voiced Honoka in subsequent series entries, including Love Live! The School Idol Movie.
Beyond Love Live!, Nitta has built a diverse portfolio of voice roles. She voiced Elza Crucial in I couldn't become a hero, so I reluctantly decided to get a job. (2013) and took on the role of Tokoha Anjō in the Cardfight!! Vanguard G series, starting in 2014 and continuing through its Stride Gate-hen arc. Her other anime roles include Marine Amagi in Tantei Kageki Milky Holmes TD (2015), Kotori Shirakawa in T.P. Sakura, and Malga Naruze in the Horizon in the Middle of Nowhere series. In the early 2020s, she voiced Mahiru in the anime adaptation of the popular game Princess Connect! Re:Dive.
In 2017, Nitta transferred her agency affiliation from S-inc to DIFFERENCE. Alongside her voice acting, she has maintained a concurrent career as a solo singer, releasing multiple singles and two albums: EMUSIC in 2015 and EMUSIC 32 -meets you- in 2018. She has also expanded her performance range to include stage acting, appearing in productions such as Legally Blonde. Her career has included international appearances, performing at events like Bilibili Macro Link in China in 2016 and holding her first overseas solo concert in Shanghai in 2025.
