A single grain of rice is said to hold seven gods. From this tradition are born the seven Koshino sisters, known as the Komekami! Girls, who are the children of the Rice Goddess. Their mother, the Rice Goddess Queen, has been suddenly called back to the celestial realm and is unable to return to the earthly world. Using Usa City in Oita Prefecture as their base, the seven sisters set out to search for traces of her. They possess the ability to instantly teleport to Hachiman shrines located throughout the island of Kyushu. As they travel to different locations, they work to solve local problems, learn about various cuisines, and participate in cooking battles, all while growing both as individuals and as a family.

The story centers on the seven Koshino sisters: the natural and gentle eldest sister Sanae, the calm and composed second sister Minori, the confident and proud third sister Mei, the reliable fourth sister Hikari, the otaku fifth sister Momi, her clumsy twin sister Mai, and the quiet youngest sister Honoka. They are aided and sometimes challenged by characters such as Okoge and Kamanosuke Oniyama, as well as their father Takumi Koshino. The series explores themes of food, family, and local tradition as the sisters mature through their unique adventures across Kyushu. The narrative arc follows their ongoing quest to find their missing mother while using cooking and problem-solving to connect with the communities they visit.
