Hirofumi Nojima
Description
Hirofumi Nojima is a Japanese voice actor and narrator born on April 16, 1973, in Tokyo. He is the eldest son of veteran voice actor Akio Nojima and the older brother of fellow voice actor Kenji Nojima, placing him in a renowned family of voice acting talent. Unlike his younger brother who pursued voice acting immediately, Nojima initially worked as a company employee in Fukuoka before deciding to enter the industry, making his debut in 2000 at a later age than his sibling.
His debut role was as Yoji Suganuma in the series Boogiepop Phantom, and his first major role came in 2002 as Gainer Sanga in Overman King Gainer. For nearly two decades, from 1999 until April 2018, Nojima was affiliated with the talent management firm Sigma Seven. In May 2018, he transferred to Aoni Production, the same agency as his younger brother, Kenji.
Nojima has built a prolific career with a wide range of roles across anime, video games, and dubbing. He is known for his work in long-running and popular series. Some of his most notable anime roles include Hayato Ike in the Shakugan no Shana series, Yūsaku Kitamura in Toradora!, Shūya Gōenji in the Inazuma Eleven franchise, and Shun Izuki in Kuroko's Basketball. He has also appeared in major films, such as Allen Kay in My Hero Academia THE MOVIE: World Heroes' Mission and as Kagehisa Anotsu in Blade of the Immortal. Beyond these, his extensive filmography includes roles like Akatsuki Izumo in the Aria series, Kō Murakami in World Trigger, Hajime Ishikawa in Skate-Leading Stars, and Cornelius Lutz in Legend of the Galactic Heroes: Die Neue These. He has also taken on roles in tokusatsu, notably as Commandant Warz Gill in Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger.
In addition to anime, Nojima is highly active in dubbing foreign films and television series, particularly those from Asia. He is the regular Japanese voice-dub actor for South Korean actor Song Joong-ki. His dubbing work also includes providing the Japanese voice for actors such as Wu Jing, Domhnall Gleeson, and Gang Dong-won in various films. In the realm of video games, his roles include Empel Vollmer in the Atelier Ryza series and Joshua in Fire Emblem Heroes. He has also contributed to the Pokémon franchise, voicing the Gym Leaders Volkner and Grant in the anime, as well as Luxio and Luxray in the games.
Nojima is known for his calm and collected personality, which has led to him often being cast in cool-headed or mature roles. He has a passion for cycling and is known to enjoy rock climbing. His hobbies also include drinking beer, which he has mentioned as one of his great pleasures in life. Despite coming from a famous family, his personal life, including his marital status, is kept private and is not publicly known.
