Description
Dionysus Thyrsos is a character from the anime Kamigami no Asobi: Ludere deorum, where he appears as the Greek god of wine, fertility, and merrymaking. His name includes the epithet Thyrsos, a reference to the thyrsus staff carried by his followers in ancient myths. He is a secondary character within the story.

In terms of his background, Dionysus is a member of the Greek pantheon and the son of Zeus, the king of the gods. He is the half-brother of the sun god Apollon and the nephew of the underworld god Hades. His human appearance is that of a tall and slender young man with burgundy hair that reaches his mid-back, often styled with a braid on one side and bangs swept back from his face. He has striking emerald green eyes and fair skin. His typical outfit consists of a long-sleeved, asymmetrical black shirt with an animal print collar. He usually wears his school jacket tied around his waist, paired with gray pants and brown boots. He wears a silver pendant, and his power limitating shackle takes the form of an earring on his left ear. In his divine transformation, his hair grows longer, reaching his lower back, and he wears a purple and yellow Greek-style toga along with golden jewelry, and he carries a special cup.

His personality is generally carefree, cheerful, and easygoing, with a charming and flirtatious nature. He dislikes being told what to do and often appears lazy or unconcerned with school rules, frequently seen napping instead of listening to lessons. This laid-back exterior, however, conceals a deep loyalty and genuine concern for his family. He shows particular care for his brother Apollon and his uncle Hades, and he is often the one who explains their attitudes and pasts to the protagonist, Yui. Although he is typically slow to anger, he can become irrational and "slightly crazy" when pushed too far, especially if something he cares about, like his wine, is threatened.

Dionysus is reluctantly brought to the Deorum, the school for gods, along with his relatives Apollon and Hades, as part of Zeus's plan to help them understand human hearts. Initially, he is among those who oppose obeying Zeus's orders and attending classes. He is eventually convinced to participate by Yui and his brother Apollon during a school trip. He finds his place within the school by founding the gardening club, where his main goal is to cultivate grapes for making wine and juice, though he also grows flowers and other plants. His primary role in the story is a supportive one, often helping other gods and joining in group activities. A key conflict for him occurs when the juice he made for a school play is stolen. His intense, over-the-top reaction to this loss demonstrates his passionate nature, turning the play into a chaotic scene as he hunts for the culprit.

His key relationships are strongly tied to his family. He shares a warm, teasing bond with his half-brother Apollon, who affectionately calls him Dee-dee. He also has a good relationship with his uncle Hades, who sometimes looks after him when he has a hangover. Through his interactions with Yui and the challenges at the school, Dionysus shows development by becoming grateful for the experience, which helps him better understand human nature. Among his notable divine abilities, besides those related to wine and vegetation, his most prominent artifact is an endless cup from which wine can be poured indefinitely, as it always refills itself.
