Description
Boogie-kun is a supporting character from the anime and manga series Karin, known primarily as the favorite doll of the young vampire Anju Maaka. His most defining characteristic is that he is not an ordinary toy; the spirit of a murderer is sealed inside him, giving him the ability to speak and act with a distinct, cynical will of his own. In his doll form, Boogie-kun is typically depicted as a small, boy-like figure with turquoise hair cut to ear length and black eyes.

Personality-wise, Boogie-kun is consistently sarcastic and blunt, often serving as a source of biting commentary on the events unfolding around him. He has a particular habit of criticizing Karin, the series' protagonist, frequently telling her how useless or incompetent he perceives her to be. This critical nature is a core part of his role in the story, providing a contrast to the more earnest or naive characters. Despite his harsh words, his motivations are relatively simple; he is deeply attached to his owner, Anju, and becomes upset when he is separated from her for extended periods.

Within the narrative, Boogie-kun functions as Anju's constant companion and confidant. His relationship with Anju is the most significant in the series. She is the one who carries him around, and she is also the one who typically punishes him for his rudeness, especially when he directs his sarcasm toward her sister, Karin. This dynamic illustrates a strange but clear bond of loyalty between the doll and the young vampire. His presence is also tied to a notable plot point in the manga's third volume, where a classmate of Anju's takes Boogie-kun away, leading to grievous consequences that force Anju to retrieve him.

Regarding his development, Boogie-kun remains a relatively static character in terms of personality. However, his physical state undergoes a significant change in the anime adaptation. After Anju awakens as a full vampire in the twentieth episode of the anime series, Boogie-kun loses his sentience and reverts to being a simple, inanimate doll. This event marks the end of his active role as a talking character. As a doll containing a murderer's spirit, his notable ability is simply his consciousness and the power of speech, which sets him apart from the other dolls in Anju's room that also talk but are not as favored as he is.
