Description
"Ah! My Goddess: Flights of Fancy" is the second season of the anime adaptation of the manga series "Ah! My Goddess!" by Kosuke Fujishima. The story continues the romantic and supernatural adventures of Keiichi Morisato, a college student, and Belldandy, a goddess from the heavenly realm of Yggdrasil. After a chance encounter in the first season, Belldandy becomes Keiichi’s companion, bound to him by a divine contract. Their relationship deepens as they navigate the challenges of coexisting in the human world while dealing with the whims of otherworldly forces.
The narrative explores the dynamics between Keiichi and Belldandy as they face new trials, often involving Belldandy’s sisters, Urd and Skuld, who also reside with them. Urd, the mischievous and seductive elder sister, frequently causes chaos with her unpredictable magic, while Skuld, the youngest and most technologically inclined, struggles with her insecurities and overprotectiveness. Together, the trio of goddesses brings a mix of humor, drama, and supernatural elements to Keiichi’s otherwise ordinary life.
Throughout the series, the plot delves into various episodic adventures, ranging from comedic misunderstandings to more serious conflicts involving the rules and hierarchies of the divine realm. Keiichi’s devotion to Belldandy is tested as they encounter rival goddesses, jealous demons, and the occasional interference from Yggdrasil’s administration. The series also introduces new characters, such as Peorth, a rival goddess who competes with Belldandy for Keiichi’s attention, and Mara, a demoness who seeks to disrupt their happiness.
Themes of love, loyalty, and the clash between the mundane and the divine are central to the story. Keiichi’s growth as a character is evident as he learns to balance his human limitations with the extraordinary circumstances of living with goddesses. Belldandy’s unwavering kindness and grace serve as a stabilizing force, while her sisters add complexity and depth to the narrative. The series maintains a lighthearted tone but occasionally delves into more poignant moments, particularly when exploring the emotional bonds between the characters.
"Ah! My Goddess: Flights of Fancy" builds on the foundation of the first season, expanding the world of Yggdrasil and its inhabitants while continuing to focus on the evolving relationship between Keiichi and Belldandy. The blend of romance, comedy, and fantasy creates a engaging narrative that appeals to fans of both slice-of-life and supernatural genres.

1Ah! I Wish...Once More!
Following the battle with the Lord of Terror, the systems of Yggdrasil, the heavenly system that manages mortal contracts, remain damaged. Keiichi Morisato and the goddesses Belldandy, Urd, and Skuld believe their peaceful life has resumed. However, a senior system administrator from heaven arrives to deliver troubling news. The data containing Keiichi's original wish for Belldandy to stay with him has been lost in the system failure. Without a valid contract on record, Belldandy is subject to recall and must return to heaven within a limited time. The administrator explains that if the lost data is not recovered before the deadline, their time together will end. This revelation creates an urgent new conflict for the household. Keiichi is faced with the immediate prospect of losing Belldandy, which motivates him to seek a solution. Urd and Skuld, despite their usual squabbling, are motivated by their care for their sister and decide to help investigate the damaged systems. Belldandy, for her part, displays a quiet resolve to remain with Keiichi if at all possible. The episode establishes the core premise for the season's initial arc: the race to restore the lost contract and the emotional stakes for Keiichi and Belldandy's relationship. It ends with the characters beginning their efforts to find a way to repair the data, setting the narrative in motion for the episodes to follow.
2Ah! The Beleaguered Queen of Vengeance!
Keiichi gives Belldandy time to herself, during which she dedicates her efforts to knitting him a sweater as a Christmas present. A rumor circulates at the college that Belldandy and Keiichi have ended their relationship. This rumor captures the attention of Sayoko Mishima, who becomes motivated to pursue Keiichi because he is the only male on campus who has not succumbed to her charms. Sayoko's primary conflict arises from her desire to conquer Keiichi's affection, viewing him as a challenge to her vanity. She devises a scheme to insert herself between the couple, aiming to spend time with Keiichi. A critical turning point occurs when Sayoko steals the handmade sweater Belldandy prepared for Keiichi. This act of sabotage directly prevents Keiichi from receiving Belldandy's heartfelt gift, creating an immediate obstacle. The episode illustrates Sayoko's willingness to interfere through underhanded means to achieve her goal. Belldandy's quiet act of creating a gift with her love is contrasted by Sayoko's aggressive and manipulative pursuit. The consequence of Sayoko's actions sets the stage for potential misunderstandings and emotional conflict between Keiichi and Belldandy as Christmas approaches.
3Ah! I Offer These Feelings on Christmas Eve!
With Christmas approaching, Keiichi Morisato seeks to reciprocate Belldandy's gift from the previous episode. Urd suggests he purchase a ring for Belldandy, an idea that Keiichi warms to despite his limited finances. The particular ring that captures his interest, however, proves to be far beyond his means. Motivated by the desire to present a meaningful gift, Keiichi takes on multiple part-time jobs to earn the necessary funds. This decision forces him to manage a grueling schedule while simultaneously keeping his efforts a secret from Belldandy. The episode establishes a clear central conflict between Keiichi's sincere intentions and the practical obstacles of time and money. Urd's involvement as an instigator adds a layer of complication, as her suggestion directly leads to Keiichi's predicament. The narrative focuses on Keiichi's determination and his willingness to endure hardship for Belldandy's sake. The immediate consequence of his actions is the physical and mental strain of working tirelessly with only days left until Christmas Eve. The episode's progression centers on the question of whether he can achieve his goal without discovery or exhaustion. This plotline serves as a character study of Keiichi's devotion and the everyday challenges that arise from his relationship with the goddesses.
4Ah! I Want To Fill The World With Happiness!
Sayoko organizes a Christmas reception and invites Keiichi and the goddesses, intending to publicly embarrass Belldandy and prove her own superiority. She devises a series of challenges for Belldandy, expecting the goddess's pure nature to falter in a social setting, which instead results in Sayoko inadvertently humiliating herself. The turning point occurs when Belldandy opens a can of soda, and its contents cause her to become unexpectedly intoxicated. In this altered state, Belldandy's behavior becomes uninhibited, leading her to sing and act in a manner completely contrary to her usual serene demeanor. This incident shifts the party's dynamic, as the other guests, including Sayoko, react with surprise and amusement to the goddess's uncharacteristic actions. Sayoko's calculated efforts to undermine Belldandy are effectively derailed by this unforeseen and uncontrollable turn of events. The episode highlights the contrast between Sayoko's strategic, human attempts at social manipulation and the unpredictable, innocent nature of the goddesses. Following the party, the characters return to the temple, where the memory of the evening's unusual events lingers. The experience ultimately reinforces the established bonds among the temple's residents without any lasting conflict with Sayoko.
5Ah! The Wavelength That Captivates Love!
The narrative shifts focus from the main cast to the supporting members of the Nekomi Tech Motorcycle Club. During a club fundraising event, the large and intimidating Ōtaki encounters a young woman named Satoko who is selling flowers. He is immediately smitten, experiencing a profound and unfamiliar emotional reaction to her presence. This development introduces a romantic subplot centered on a character typically portrayed for comedic relief. The situation becomes complicated with the arrival of Toshiyuki Aoshima, a handsome and smooth-talking rival who also takes an interest in Satoko. Aoshima's confident and polished demeanor stands in stark contrast to Ōtaki's shy and physically imposing nature, establishing a clear conflict for Satoko's affection. Ōtaki's motivation is rooted in a pure, spontaneous love, compelling him to overcome his inherent bashfulness. He attempts to compete with Aoshima, but his efforts are awkward and lack the finesse of his rival's advances. Satoko remains caught in the middle, observing the competing affections of the two very different men. The episode's turning point arrives when Satoko shows a sign of favor towards Ōtaki, giving him a flower, which suggests his sincerity may be more impactful than Aoshima's charm. The immediate consequence is a newly ignited and public rivalry between Ōtaki and Aoshima, leaving the resolution of the love triangle for a future episode. Meanwhile, Tamiya observes his friend's unprecedented romantic turmoil from the sidelines.
6Ah! Is That Jealousy?!
Keiichi Morisato discovers a letter in his shoe locker at the Nekomi Institute of Technology, which he initially believes to be a love letter. The letter is from a girl named Shiho Sakakibara, who requests a meeting after school. Upon their encounter, Shiho reveals herself to be an apprentice exorcist and explains her true motive; she has detected a strong malevolent force surrounding Keiichi and is determined to perform an exorcism to rid him of the perceived evil spirit. Shiho's intense focus on Keiichi and her subsequent visits to the Morisato residence to conduct her rituals create a situation where she is constantly in close proximity to him. Belldandy observes these interactions, and for the first time, she begins to experience the unfamiliar and unsettling emotion of jealousy. This new feeling is difficult for the goddess to process, as her usual demeanor is one of unwavering faith and sweetness. Urd, observing her sister's state, recognizes the signs of pent-up emotional distress. The narrative explores the consequences of Belldandy's internal conflict, suggesting that a goddess suppressing such powerful emotions can lead to hazardous side effects, adding a layer of supernatural consequence to her personal turmoil. Shiho's presence and actions serve as the direct catalyst for this significant shift in Belldandy's emotional landscape, marking a key point in her character development within the series. The episode concludes with Belldandy grappling with this new aspect of her feelings for Keiichi, setting the stage for future interactions.
7Ah! I Will Fulfill Your Wish!
Keiichi Morisato inadvertently dials the Goddess Help Line again, leading to the arrival of Peorth, a first-class goddess who manages a different department within the celestial system. Peorth explains that she is responding to Keiichi's call with the intent to grant him a wish, a duty she approaches with a formal and somewhat inflexible demeanor. The narrative conflict is established through Peorth's insistence on fulfilling her contractual obligation, despite Keiichi's repeated declarations that he already has everything he needs with Belldandy. This situation creates a turning point where Peorth refuses to leave until she has successfully granted a wish, introducing a new, persistent presence into the Morisato household. The episode derives its core conflict from the collision of Peorth's rigid adherence to procedure with the established domestic harmony. Character motivations are clearly delineated: Peorth is driven by professional duty and pride in her work, while Keiichi is motivated by a desire to maintain the status quo and avoid offending the new goddess. The immediate consequence of Peorth's arrival is the disruption of the quiet life Keiichi shares with Belldandy, Urd, and Skuld. In a specific scene, Skuld reacts to Keiichi and Belldandy holding hands by brandishing a chainsaw she has named Murder-kun, a moment that parodies horror film imagery and underscores her protective jealousy. Peorth's attempts to understand the household and identify a suitable wish for Keiichi form the basis of the episode's plot progression, setting the stage for her continued involvement and the challenges her presence will pose to the family's dynamics. The episode focuses on the mechanics of the goddess system and the introduction of a new character whose professional objectives run counter to the personal desires of the established cast.
8Ah! I want to be your help
Following the arrival of Peorth, the episode opens with Keiichi receiving a communication from the Almighty One, who explains that the damage to Yggdrasil may force Belldandy to return to Heaven. This revelation creates an immediate external conflict, as the potential separation threatens the central relationship. Belldandy and Keiichi decide to spend what could be their remaining time together on a final date, aiming to create a lasting memory. Their motivations are driven by affection and the desire to cherish their limited time, highlighting the emotional stakes of their situation. Meanwhile, Peorth continues her residence at the temple, escalating her interference in Keiichi's daily life. She openly questions Belldandy's capability to fulfill Keiichi's original wish, directly challenging the bond between the main couple. This criticism provokes Urd and Skuld, leading the goddesses to challenge Peorth to a contest to determine who can best fulfill Keiichi's wishes, regardless of how simple they might be. The contest serves as a narrative turning point, shifting from passive anxiety about separation to active competition. During her efforts, Peorth attempts to create her own version of a love potion, but her method involves using one of Urd's ingredients without proper knowledge. This reckless action introduces a new source of potential trouble, as the unstable concoction threatens to cause unintended complications for Keiichi. The episode thus advances multiple plot threads: the looming separation of Belldandy and Keiichi, the rivalry between Peorth and the resident goddesses, and the creation of a volatile magical element whose consequences are yet to unfold.
9Episode 9
The episode's central conflict is set in motion when Keiichi accepts Peorth's offer for a date, motivated by his polite but reluctant agreement to her persistent advances. Peorth orchestrates the outing with the specific intention of making Keiichi fall for her, thereby allowing her to fulfill her duty as a goddess and return to Heaven with a successful wish granted. However, her plans are systematically undermined at every turn by Urd and Skuld, who covertly follow the couple to ensure Keiichi remains loyal to Belldandy. Peorth's frustration mounts as her carefully laid schemes, from romantic walks to suggestive scenarios, are repeatedly thwarted by the sisters' interference. The turning point occurs when Peorth, exasperated by her inability to gain an advantage, directly challenges Belldandy to a competition for the right to be Keiichi's date. This challenge shifts the episode's focus from Peorth's unilateral machinations to a direct confrontation between the two goddesses. Belldandy, driven by her own deepening feelings for Keiichi and a desire to protect their bond, accepts the challenge despite her gentle nature. The terms of the contest, a decisive game of some sort, are set, creating a formal rivalry where none previously existed. Consequently, the episode concludes with the household's dynamics permanently altered, as Peorth transitions from a temporary visitor to a direct rival, and Keiichi is left as the prize in a supernatural competition.
10Ah! I cannot say that one word
The episode opens with the fallout from Peorth's challenge, as Keiichi finds himself under increasing pressure to make a formal wish. Peorth remains steadfast in her refusal to leave until she has successfully granted a wish, viewing her mission as a matter of professional pride. Keiichi's primary motivation is to protect Belldandy's feelings, having witnessed how the competition between the two goddesses caused her distress. The narrative tension stems from Keiichi's inability to verbalize his true desires, a character trait that has consistently defined his interactions with the divine beings. Belldandy, for her part, struggles with her own feelings of insecurity, uncertain whether she has the right to ask Keiichi to choose her. Urd and Skuld observe the situation with growing concern, though their interventions are limited by the rules governing goddess contracts. The turning point arrives when Keiichi finally understands that his reluctance to speak is itself causing Belldandy pain. This realization forces him to confront his communication issues directly. In the climactic scene, Keiichi manages to articulate his wish, asking Belldandy to remain with him permanently. The immediate consequence is Peorth's graceful acceptance of the outcome, as Keiichi's clear expression of his bond with Belldandy fulfills the requirement for a valid wish. The episode concludes with Peorth's departure, having achieved her goal of providing service, while Keiichi and Belldandy's relationship is reinforced through the explicit verbal confirmation of their commitment.
11Ah! Grasp Your Dream With Your Own Hands!
12Ah! Goddess' tears and his dream
13Ah! Wake up! That feeling
Skuld becomes frustrated with being treated like a child and sets herself the goal of learning to ride a bicycle, an activity she witnesses bringing Belldandy simple joy. Her initial attempts end in failure, which only deepens her annoyance at her own inability. A chance encounter introduces her to Sentarō, a boy her age who is practicing soccer and patiently offers to help her learn. Skuld accepts his assistance, and through his gentle encouragement, she begins to make progress. The training sessions allow Skuld to experience a form of friendship and support she had not sought out before. Her motivation shifts from mere stubbornness to a desire to meet Sentarō's expectations and not disappoint him. The episode's turning point occurs when Skuld, with Sentarō running alongside her, finally manages to ride the bicycle on her own for a sustained distance. This personal achievement triggers a significant development: her dormant goddess powers awaken, allowing her to create a small, angelic being. This new creature immediately becomes attached to Skuld, mirroring her burgeoning feelings for the boy who helped her. The episode concludes with Skuld gaining a new sense of confidence and a concrete manifestation of her power, all stemming from her newly forged connection with a human.
14Ah! My lovely cupid
Skuld's romantic feelings for the boy Sentarō, which began to develop in the previous episode, finally trigger the awakening of her dormant magical powers. The young goddess decides to channel this newfound energy into creating her own angel, a significant milestone that represents a goddess's maturity. The birth of the angel, whom Skuld names Nobi-Nobi, is a tumultuous event that leaves the household surprised by the creature's unusual and energetic behavior. Nobi-Nobi immediately takes it upon itself to act as a matchmaker, attempting to bring Skuld and Sentarō closer together through its own simplistic and often disruptive understanding of love. The angel's misguided efforts to assist lead to a series of comedic misunderstandings and complications for Skuld. Skuld finds herself in the awkward position of having to manage both her own sincere but confusing emotions and the chaotic interference of her well-meaning creation. A key turning point occurs when Nobi-Nobi's actions inadvertently force a direct interaction between Skuld and Sentarō. Through this encounter, Skuld gains a small measure of confidence and a clearer perspective on her feelings. The episode concludes with Skuld accepting her new role as the caretaker of her angel, solidifying her personal growth and marking a new chapter in her development as a goddess.
15Ah! I'm Half Goddess, Half Demon?!
The episode shifts the setting to a hot springs inn, where Keiichi Morisato and the three goddesses, Belldandy, Urd, and Skuld, go to relax. Their respite is interrupted by the unexpected appearance of the demon Marller, who claims to be on vacation and seeking a truce. Despite the group's inherent suspicion, Urd ends up drinking casually with Marller. Seizing an opportunity during their interaction, Marller secretly obtains a strand of Urd's hair. Marller's intention is to use this hair in a ritual to extract and manifest the demonic heritage that Urd possesses from her father's side. The ritual successfully splits Urd into two separate beings: one embodying her goddess nature and the other her demonic aspect. This demonic Urd is cunning and immediately begins to sow discord, easily deceiving Belldandy and Skuld by exploiting their trust in her appearance. The true Urd is left weakened and must confront this malevolent version of herself, a conflict that challenges her identity and forces her to acknowledge a part of her lineage she typically suppresses. The episode concludes with the demonic Urd being driven back but not defeated, setting the stage for a direct confrontation in the following episode. Keiichi and the others are left to grapple with the immediate consequences of Marller's successful scheme, which has directly attacked the unity of their household.
16Ah! Not Fearing the Darkness; Shine Brightly!
Following Marller's scheme at the hot springs, a demonic duplicate of Urd, born from a strand of her hair, successfully infiltrates the Morisato residence. This imposter deceives Keiichi, Belldandy, and Skuld by mimicking Urd's behavior, creating a false sense of normalcy while the real Urd remains incapacitated. The core conflict of the episode emerges when the real Urd recovers and confronts her malevolent doppelgänger, leading to a direct physical and magical confrontation between the two. The demonic Urd proves to be a formidable opponent, seemingly gaining the upper hand by exploiting the real Urd's inner turmoil and self-doubt about her own demonic heritage. A turning point occurs when the fake Urd's compulsion to watch her favorite television program, a key personality trait of the original, overrides her malicious intent. This momentary distraction reveals her artificial nature and provides the real Urd with a critical opening. Unable to maintain the deception and facing defeat, the demonic Urd is forced to retreat and flee, vowing to return. The immediate consequence is the restoration of order within the household, but the encounter leaves Urd visibly shaken. The episode concludes with Urd left to introspect, directly confronting the reality of her dual lineage and the potential darkness that resides within her, setting the stage for future character developments.
17Aa! Ddai Makai Chou sa Makkourin? / Ah! The Advent of the Great Demon Leader!
Following her confrontation with her own demonic half, Urd is left to contemplate her dual heritage and what it means for her future as a goddess. This introspection leads her to make a decision with significant consequences: she summons Hild, the ruler of all demonkind. Hild's arrival immediately raises the stakes of the ongoing conflict, as her presence is far more ominous than the schemes of the lesser demon Marller. It is revealed that Hild is not only the leader of the demon realm but also Urd's mother, a fact that forms the emotional core of the episode. Hild proposes to resolve the chaotic situation caused by Marller, but her offer comes with a price that may be more than Urd and Belldandy are willing to pay. This bargain places the sisters in a difficult position, forcing them to weigh the potential removal of a threat against the unknown cost of accepting help from the ruler of hell. Urd's personal quest to become a full-fledged goddess becomes deeply entangled with this family dynamic and the dangerous negotiation with her mother. Meanwhile, despite the arrival of her superior, an undaunted Marller continues to scheme, unwilling to leave Keiichi and the goddesses alone. The episode establishes a new power dynamic, shifting the focus from Marller's direct attacks to the more complex and dangerous game introduced by Hild. The immediate consequence is a heightened sense of vulnerability and uncertainty for the residents of the Morisato household, as they now face an adversary of unparalleled power who is intimately connected to one of their own.
18Ah! Do Demons Have Dignity?
Following the arrival of the demon ruler Hild, the episode focuses on the schemes of Hild and her subordinate, Marller. The demonic pair come into possession of an ancient magical lamp with the power to capture human souls. The lamp operates by showing a person their deepest desire, creating a distraction that allows the demons to pull the victim's soul from their body and store it inside the vessel. Hild and Marller begin testing the lamp's capabilities on unsuspecting humans, turning them into motionless shells while their souls are imprisoned. Their actions create a new and immediate threat to the mortal world, expanding the conflict beyond personal grudges against the goddesses. The narrative contrasts the demons' ruthless methods with the domestic tranquility of the Morisato household, which remains unaware of the escalating danger. Urd, due to her lineage as the daughter of Hild, finds herself in a particularly complex position as her mother's actions force a confrontation between her demonic heritage and her identity as a goddess. The episode establishes the lamp as a central plot device that raises the stakes for all characters. The consequences of the demons' tests leave innocent victims in a vulnerable state, setting the stage for the goddesses to intervene. The conflict shifts from Marller's previous petty vendettas to a more systematic threat posed by Hild's calculated exploitation of human desire.
19Ah! A Goddess's Love Can Save Ninjas!
This episode departs from the immediate concerns of the main cast to focus on a self-contained adventure involving ninjas. The narrative introduces a group of ninja characters who find themselves in a predicament that requires divine intervention. Their primary motivation is survival and protection of their clan or a specific objective, leading them to seek aid from Belldandy and the others. The core conflict arises from a threat, likely of a supernatural or demonic nature, that the ninjas' conventional skills are insufficient to overcome. Keiichi and the goddesses become entangled in this situation, with Belldandy's compassionate nature compelling her to offer assistance. The turning point occurs when Belldandy decides to directly confront the source of the ninjas' troubles, utilizing her goddess powers to protect them. This action underscores her defining character motivation: a deep-seated desire to help those in need and alleviate suffering. The episode's progression highlights how Belldandy's love, in a broad and protective sense, serves as the decisive force that saves the ninjas from their peril. While Skuld and Urd provide support, the narrative focus remains squarely on Belldandy's role as the savior figure in this specific context. The immediate consequence is the resolution of the ninjas' crisis, allowing them to return to their lives. However, for the regular cast, the events of the episode serve as another reminder of the unique and powerful world Keiichi is now a part of, reinforcing the bond between the mortal and the divine through a shared, extraordinary experience. The episode functions as a standalone story that still contributes to the series' overarching theme of the goddesses' interaction with the human world.
20Ah! It Doesn't Matter Where, So Long as We're Together!
The episode begins with Urd and Skuld being summoned back to Heaven to address escalating malfunctions within the Yggdrasil system. Before departing, Skuld leaves behind a dessert for Keiichi, which inadvertently transforms him into a woman. While attempting to concoct an antidote for Keiichi, Belldandy is exposed to a virus originating from Heaven and falls gravely ill. With the other goddesses absent and the Goddess Helpline inaccessible, Keiichi finds himself solely responsible for Belldandy's well-being. The situation grows more complicated when Megumi, Sora, Toraichi, and Otaki arrive for an unannounced visit, forcing a disguised Keiichi to evade detection until they leave, though Megumi ultimately sees through the ruse. In a desperate bid for help, Keiichi repeatedly dials wrong numbers in an attempt to reach the Goddess Helpline, but his efforts prove futile. The severity of Belldandy's condition becomes unmistakably clear when her angel, Holy Bell, emerges with its form marred by crystalline growths. This visual turning point drives Keiichi to make one final, successful attempt to contact the helpline, reaching Urd. Following Urd's precise instructions, Keiichi climbs Tokyo Tower to collect crucial wind crystals needed for the cure. Acting on further advice from Skuld, he leaps from the tower, a desperate act from which he is saved only by the timely intervention of Banpei. Upon returning to the temple with the required components, Urd synthesizes the antidote. Keiichi then administers the cure to Belldandy directly through a kiss, an act that resolves the immediate crisis.
