Description
Ohtaki-sempai, also written as Otaki and given the full name Hikozaemon Otaki, is a supporting character in the anime Ah! My Goddess: Flights of Fancy. He is a veteran student of the Nekomi Institute of Technology and, together with his best friend Toraichi Tamiya, he co-leads the NIT Motor Club, the student organization to which the protagonist Keiichi Morisato belongs. In appearance he is a tall and muscular man in his twenties with a long face, a square jawline, tanned skin, and dusty blonde hair styled in a punk fashion. He is almost always seen wearing dark sunglasses with circular frames and dark lenses, which make it hard to discern his eyes.

His personality is loud and brash, very much like that of his friend Tamiya. Otaki can be obnoxious and overbearing, especially because he and the other older club members use their seniority to order Keiichi around and treat him almost like an employee. This behavior is not meant to cause harm; his bluster comes from an easygoing, good-natured toughness rather than any real malice, and underneath it all he regards Keiichi as a friend.

In the story of Flights of Fancy, Otaki serves as a recurring comic presence. His scenes take place mostly around the university and the Motor Club, where he joins in the everyday banter, club projects, and the group's shared enthusiasm for machines and vehicles. He has no supernatural role and no direct involvement with the goddesses or demons who drive the more dramatic parts of the series; instead, he represents the ordinary campus life that Keiichi is part of. His motivation is simple: he enjoys his standing as a senior club leader, the companionship of his friends, and the lively atmosphere of the club. He is not driven by any larger ambition and remains essentially unchanged across the season, supplying steady comic relief rather than undergoing significant personal development.

His central relationship is with Tamiya, his fellow senior and constant companion, with whom he shares a loud and boisterous partnership. His other key relationship is with Keiichi, whom he bosses around as a junior member but still considers a genuine friend and an important part of the club. Otaki possesses no special abilities or powers; his defining traits are his loud voice, his imposing physique, and the authority that comes with being an experienced upperclassman within the Motor Club.
