Melissa Williamson is the former professional name of the acclaimed American voice actor and ADR director Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, under which she performed many of her early roles in anime dubs during the 1990s and early 2000s. Born on October 16, 1966, in Los Angeles, California, she has built a prolific and influential career in the animation and video game industries, working extensively in English-language adaptations of Japanese anime.

Under the name Melissa Williamson, she provided voices for a number of notable anime productions. These include the role of Princess Buburina, the main antagonist in the 1995 fantasy film Catnapped! The Movie. In the series The Legend of Black Heaven, she voiced the character Hamil. Another key role from this period was Matilda Ajan in the English dub of the compilation Mobile Suit Gundam - The Movie Trilogy. She was also credited as Melissa Williamson for her work as Julia, a pivotal character in the seminal series Cowboy Bebop, where she also served as the ADR director.

As her career progressed, she transitioned to using her birth name, Mary Elizabeth McGlynn, becoming one of the most recognizable voices and creative forces in anime localization. Her later voice acting credits are extensive and include landmark roles such as Major Motoko Kusanagi in Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex, Cornelia li Britannia in Code Geass, and several characters in the Naruto franchise, including Kurenai Yuhi and Mei Terumi. Her work has been recognized with industry accolades, including an American Anime Award for Best Actress for her performance as Major Kusanagi and a SPJA Award for Best Director for her work on Naruto.

In addition to her voice acting, McGlynn is a highly sought-after ADR (Automated Dialogue Replacement) director and voice director, having helmed the English dubs for numerous series such as Digimon Tamers, Wolf's Rain, and the later seasons of Naruto. She has also lent her singing voice to several projects, most notably as a vocalist on multiple soundtracks for the Silent Hill video game series, collaborating closely with composer Akira Yamaoka. Her directing work extends beyond anime to include Western animated series like Steven Universe, Star Wars Rebels, and She-Ra and the Princesses of Power.
