Description
Queen Diva is the ruler of the Bugrom, the insectoid people who oppose the human nations of El-Hazard. She stands apart from her subjects in appearance, having the form of a beautiful human woman aside from a few insect-like features such as antennae and wings, and she is the only fully humanoid member of her tribe. Whether this human form is her true body or an illusion is uncertain, and the franchise later presents a similar ruler of another insect people who likewise takes a beautiful human shape. She is commonly recognized by her short pink hair and yellow eyes.
Her background is tied to the long-running war between the Bugrom and the Alliance of human nations in El-Hazard. When the Earth student Katsuhiko Jinnai is brought before her by her soldiers, she becomes convinced that he is a messenger sent by God to lead the Bugrom to victory, an impression reinforced by the special ability he gains in El-Hazard that lets him understand and command the Bugrom. She grants him the position of military commander of her forces and grows genuinely and romantically attached to him, admiring his skill in organizing the troops and conducting campaigns.
