Emily Blau is the professional name for Emily Ann Bauer Jenness, an American voice and stage actress known for her extensive work in English-language dubs of Japanese anime series. Born on July 29, 1981, in New Jersey, she developed an early interest in performing arts, taking classes at a local school and participating in productions at the Paper Mill Playhouse. She attended Millburn High School and later graduated cum laude from New York University in 2002 with degrees in both Business and Theatre, also receiving the Presidential Honors Scholar Award.

Her career in anime voice acting began in the early 2000s, and she initially used the name Emily Blau for many of these roles. A notable early role was providing the voice for the protagonist Shinobu in the 2004 series Ninja Nonsense. She also voiced Megumi Morisato in Ah! My Goddess and its sequel, and Princess Lastelle in the 2005 English adaptation of the film Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind.

In 2007, Bauer was cast in what would become one of her most significant and long-running roles, joining the cast of the Pokémon anime series during its tenth season. She became the voice of Dawn, the main female character and traveling companion to Ash Ketchum in the Pokémon: Diamond and Pearl series. Her association with the franchise has continued for many years, during which she has voiced numerous other characters, including the recurring roles of the Sinnoh League Champion Cynthia and various incarnations of Officer Jenny.

Another major role came in 2014 when she was cast as Zuzu Boyle and her counterparts, including Celina, Lulu Obsidian, and Rin, in the Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V series. Beyond these prominent parts, her anime voiceography includes roles in series such as Kurokami The Animation and Black God. Her voice work also extends to video games, where she is known for being the voice of Monita in Nintendo Land and Nene in Samurai Warriors 3.

In addition to her on-screen and voice work for animation, Bauer has a prolific career as an audiobook narrator. She has narrated numerous titles, including the acclaimed InCryptid series by Seanan McGuire and the novel Life as We Knew It.
