Emanuela Pacotto

Description
Emanuela Pacotto is an established Italian voice actress, born in Milan on June 7, 1965, widely recognized for her extensive work in dubbing anime and animated series for the Italian audience. Her career in performance began in childhood, participating in singing competitions and television programs. She was a member of the Piccoli Cantori di Milano choir and made her theatrical debut in 1975 under the direction of Giorgio Strehler. After training at the Centro Teatro Attivo and graduating from the Accademia d'arte dei Filodrammatici, she worked as an actress. Her entry into dubbing was serendipitous; while playing the role of Marika in the live-action series Kiss Me Licia, she was asked to re-dub her own character after the original voice actress left, which launched her career in voice acting.

Pacotto is best known for providing the Italian voices for several iconic characters in long-running and popular anime franchises. These prominent roles include Bulma across the Dragon Ball series, from the original through Dragon Ball Super and its films; Nami in One Piece, a role she has voiced since the series arrived in Italy in 2001; Jessie of Team Rocket in the Pokémon anime and its numerous films; Sakura Haruno in Naruto and Naruto: Shippuden; and Lina Inverse in Slayers. Beyond these, her filmography includes a vast array of other characters such as Anna Kyoyama in Shaman King, Utena Tenjō in Revolutionary Girl Utena, and Twilight Sparkle in My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic. She has also lent her voice to many video game characters in titles like Resident Evil, Destiny, and League of Legends.

Pacotto is herself an enthusiast of anime and Japanese pop culture, actively participating in conventions and events. She has performed concerts featuring original anime theme songs in Japanese, becoming the first Western artist to stage an "Idol"-style show of this kind outside Japan. Her creative work extends to co-producing, writing, and starring in web series such as Censors and Favolananna, the latter also being adapted into a book of fairy tales. Her contributions have been recognized with awards, including two Oscar del Doppiaggio in 2007 for Best Female Voice and Best Anime Dubbing for Naruto.
