Description
Lena is a cleric and noblewoman originally from Macedon, a country in the Archanea region. She was born into a powerful noble family; her mother was a bishop who served in Grust and passed away when Lena was ten years old. After her mother’s death, Lena was sent to live with her grandfather in Grust, where she trained as a cleric and regularly accompanied him to remote areas to aid farmers suffering from illness and bandit attacks. During this period, she became acquainted with Camus, a noble-minded Grustian knight, whose example of self-sacrifice deeply influenced her. When King Michalis of Macedon proposed marriage to her, Lena bluntly refused and left the country, choosing instead to continue her work helping the poor. She possesses a strong-willed and selfless personality, believing it is her duty to aid the ill and the disadvantaged. Her compassion extends to all who suffer, and she cannot bear to stand by when others are harmed. Her primary motivation is to fulfill this purpose as a cleric, even if it means putting herself in danger.
In the War of Shadows, Lena was captured by bandits at the Ghoul’s Teeth while trying to care for the sick there. Julian, a thief who worked for the same bandits, betrayed his comrades to rescue her, and the two escaped to join Prince Marth’s army. Lena insisted on staying to help as a healer, despite Marth offering her safe passage. Throughout the war, she serves as a vital support unit, using her healing staves and effectively becoming the army’s primary cleric. Later, during the War of Heroes, she is abducted by the dark mage Gharnef and used as a sacrifice to resurrect the shadow dragon Medeus. Julian again seeks her out and awakens her, and she rejoins Marth’s forces for the final battle.
Lena’s key relationship is with Julian. She is the reason he turned away from a life of crime, and their bond grows into deep mutual love. After the wars, they raise orphans together at a convent in Macedon. She also has a strained relationship with her older brother Matthis, whom she encourages to fight for a cause he believes in rather than serve under compulsion. Her interactions with Camus are marked by ideological conflict, as she condemns his loyalty to a corrupt alliance. With Prince Marth, she is a trusted and reliable ally.
Over the course of the story, Lena develops from a noble fleeing an unwanted marriage into a resolute and self-sacrificing healer willing to risk her life for others. Her capture and subsequent rescues emphasize her vulnerability but also her resilience and the strength of her conviction.
Notable abilities include mastery of various healing staves. She wields the Mend staff for significant recovery, the Warp staff which can teleport allies across the battlefield, and the Hammerne staff, a family heirloom that repairs damaged weapons and staves. Upon promotion to bishop, she gains access to offensive magic, though she remains primarily a healer. Her clerical gifts are believed to be inherited from her mother, and her services are considered nearly indispensable for the survival of her allies.
