Description
Mia Guillem is a sixteen-year-old performer and writer at the renowned Kaleido Stage. Born in the Netherlands, she is one of the first characters to encounter Sora Naegino when Sora arrives hoping to join the circus troupe. Initially skeptical and dismissive of Sora, Mia, along with her friend Anna, rejects Sora because she has not yet proven herself. However, after witnessing Sora’s determined attempt to perform the Golden Phoenix, Mia’s attitude shifts completely, and she becomes one of Sora’s closest friends and most loyal supporters.

Mia possesses a warm and supportive personality, though she is not without moments of insecurity. She is a strong-willed young woman who cares deeply for those around her, especially her grandmother, who is her biggest fan and often in poor health. Mia occasionally struggles with the conflict between her commitment to performing and her desire to be with her grandmother when she is ill. This inner conflict drives much of her personal growth, as she learns to balance her responsibilities and follow her true passions.

Mia’s motivations are rooted in a love for storytelling and a desire to bring literary depth to the Kaleido Stage’s performances. While she begins as a performer, she gradually discovers that her greatest talent lies not in the spotlight but behind the scenes. She becomes the main scriptwriter and director for many of the troupe’s productions, writing original shows such as FREEDOM, as well as adapting classic works like Dracula and Swan Lake. Her keen interest in literature and drama gives the Kaleido Stage a richer artistic dimension. She also runs her own website dedicated to the troupe, sharing information about the shows and their performers.

Mia’s role in the story evolves from a minor, initially skeptical peer to a key creative force within the troupe. She works alongside Sora and Anna, forming a close-knit trio that supports one another through various hardships. Her friendship with Sora is particularly significant, as Mia helps Sora adjust to the rigorous environment of the Kaleido Stage and encourages her during difficult times. Likewise, Sora’s boundless enthusiasm inspires Mia to pursue her writing ambitions.

Over the course of the series, Mia develops from a somewhat timid and self-doubting performer into a confident and accomplished writer and director. She learns that her worth is not measured solely by her on-stage abilities, but by the unique contributions she can make off-stage. Her growth is marked by her willingness to take on challenging creative projects and her increasing ability to balance her personal life with her professional aspirations.

Notable abilities include her skill in scriptwriting, her talent for conceptualizing and staging theatrical productions, and her dedication to researching and incorporating literary influences. She is also a capable performer, though her writing talent is what truly sets her apart. Her fan-girl enthusiasm for celebrities adds a lighthearted and relatable dimension to her character, but it never overshadows her genuine hard work and artistic integrity.
