Description
Mika Kanda is a supporting character who appears exclusively in the anime adaptation of Gantz. Before her death, she worked as a bookstore designer and had been living in fear after being stalked for an extended period. Her stalker eventually caught up with her and stabbed her to death, which resulted in her being transported to the mysterious Gantz room along with other recently deceased individuals. In the Gantz game, she participated as a hunter during the Kurono Alien mission. Physically, she is a young woman in her early twenties with black hair and dark eyes. Her personality is not explored in great depth, but her background as a stalking victim suggests a sense of vulnerability and a desire to escape her previous life of fear. In the Gantz missions, she is likely motivated by the basic instinct to survive and the hope of earning enough points to return to normal life, though she does not demonstrate any notable combat prowess or special abilities beyond the standard Gantz equipment provided to all participants. During the final stages of the Kurono Alien mission, she sustained severe injuries inflicted by Hajime Muroto. As she lay dying, she was held in the arms of Kei Kurono, one of the main protagonists. Her story ends with her death in that mission, making her a tragic figure who was unable to find a lasting escape from the cycle of violence that brought her into the Gantz world. Her key relationship within the story is with Kei Kurono, who briefly comforts her in her final moments. There is no indication of significant development or growth, as her time in the series is brief and she does not survive to the end of the arc.
