TV-Series
Description

Rosette Christopher and her demon partner Chrono operate out of the Magdalene Order in 1920s New York. They track a demon that has abducted multiple children from the city’s orphanages. At St. Mary’s Church,a priest directs them to a basement where the children are held. The priest reveals himself as a demon and attacks. Chrono, sealed in a pendant, warns Rosette that drawing on his full power will shorten her remaining lifespan. Rosette removes the pendant’s seal, allowing Chrono to assume his adult demon form. Chrono incinerates the enemy demon with a concentrated blast of energy. Rosette loses consciousness from the strain, and Chrono reverts to his smaller, weaker form. The Order’s leader, Sister Kate, later reprimands Rosette for reckless use of Chrono’s power. In a flashback, Rosette recalls forming the contract with Chrono as a child after her brother Joshua disappeared. The episode closes with the demon Aion observing the battle site, confirming his interest in both Chrono and Rosette.
2The Invitation
Sister Rosette Christopher and her partner Chrno accept a request from the Magdalan Order to investigate disappearances at the Valenti mansion. They attend a high-society party under the guise of guests to identify the source of the disturbances. The butler,Fiore, reveals himself as a demon who preys on the mansion’s visitors, draining their life force. Fiore sets his sights on a young girl named Mary, isolating her from the crowd. Chrno exposes his horns and demonic nature to shield Mary from Fiore’s attack. Rosette removes her seal, allowing Chrno to draw upon her life force and temporarily regain his full power. Their combined assault forces Fiore to retreat, but not before he vows revenge. After the battle, fellow exorcist Satella Harvenheit confronts Rosette and Chrno, expressing disdain for their reliance on a demon’s power. The Magdalan Order reprimands Rosette for her reckless use of the contract yet allows her to continue field work. Chrno’s presence and the contract’s toll on Rosette’s lifespan remain points of contention within the Order. Satella departs, determined to prove her own methods superior and hinting at future rivalry between the two exorcists.

5The Witch of Malice
Rosette and Chrno arrive in a town where several children have vanished without explanation. They learn that the disappearances began after a mysterious woman named Satella Harvenheit settled in the area. The pair trace the missing children to a secluded mansion where Satella conducts her experiments. Satella reveals herself as a witch who extracts life force from children to create homunculi for the demon Aion. Rosette engages Satella in combat but struggles against the witch’s magical barriers and summoned creatures. Chrno uses his contracted demonic power to break through the barriers, injuring Satella. Satella retreats through a portal Aion opens, vowing to continue her work. The children are freed, but one of them, a boy named Joshua, remains in a catatonic state from the extraction process. Rosette carries Joshua back to the town, visibly shaken by the lasting harm inflicted. The episode closes with Aion observing from the shadows, reaffirming his intent to collect more homunculi for his unknown plan.
6The Children's Companions
Rosette and Chrno arrive in a town where children have been vanishing and trace the disappearances to a church-run orphanage. Sister Anna, the orphanage’s head, hides a terminal illness and secretly maintains a contract with a demon named Ruro. The demon extracts life force from the children, using their stolen time to sustain Sister Anna’s health. A boy named Ewan lies bedridden, his remaining time nearly exhausted, and Rosette resolves to save him by any means. When Rosette attempts to transfer her own life force to Ewan, Chrno intervenes and unleashes his demonic power against Ruro. Chrno partially releases his horns, but Rosette stops him from fully transforming, knowing a full release would accelerate the erosion of her own soul under their contract. The confrontation ends with Ruro’s defeat and Sister Anna’s death, as the children’s stolen time returns to them. Ewan regains his health, and the orphanage’s remaining residents face an uncertain future without Sister Anna. Throughout the episode, Rosette confronts the direct cost of her contract with Chrno: each use of his power shortens her remaining lifespan. The episode closes with Rosette reaffirming her determination to continue hunting demons despite that cost, while Chrno silently watches the weight of her choice.
7The Beast
Rosette Christopher and Chrno arrive in a rural town following reports of savage animal attacks. They discover the victims bear wounds consistent with demonic possession. Doctor Remington shelters a young girl named Shader, who exhibits sudden emotional outbursts and physical tremors. Chrno senses demonic energy emanating from Shader and identifies her as a chimera created by merging demon cells with human tissue. Remington admits he conducted the experiments in an attempt to control demonic power but lost control of the result. That night, Shader transforms into a massive beast and rampages through the town. Rosette and Chrno engage the creature; Rosette refuses to kill Shader, hoping to restore her humanity. Remington intervenes, confessing his guilt to Shader, but the beast kills him before he can finish. Rosette’s hesitation leaves Chrno no choice but to unleash his own demonic power through his horn, firing a concentrated blast that incapacitates the beast. The blast halts the rampage but causes Shader to revert to human form and die from the accumulated damage to her body. In her final moments, Shader thanks Rosette for seeing her as human. Afterward, town residents blame Rosette for the destruction, and she privately questions whether the Order’s approach to demonic threats accounts for the lives caught in between. Aion watches from the shadows, remarking that the experiment yielded valuable data for his upcoming operations.
8Saint
Rosette and Chrno arrive at a countryside cathedral following reports of missing persons. The local nun,Sister Anna, has gained a reputation for performing miracles, but Rosette detects a demonic presence. Chrno recognizes Anna as a demon named Aion, an old acquaintance from his past. Anna reveals her plan to use the cathedral’s congregation as sacrifices to regain her former power. Rosette attempts to engage Anna, but Chrno hesitates to attack due to their shared history. Anna exploits Chrno’s hesitation and critically wounds him with a sacred relic. Rosette fires her gun to force Anna back, but the demon captures her and begins draining her life force. Chrno breaks his hesitation and releases a portion of his demonic power, tearing Anna’s horn and defeating her. Anna retreats, vowing revenge, while Chrno collapses from the strain of using his power. Sister Kate arrives and warns Rosette that each time Chrno unleashes his full power, Rosette’s remaining lifespan shortens further. Rosette chooses to continue the contract regardless, prioritizing her mission to find her brother Joshua over her own life.
9Remembrance
Rosette and Chrno arrive in the town of Remsen to investigate a series of child disappearances. They encounter a demon named Fiore who kidnaps local children to consume their life force. Fiore recognizes Chrno as a former comrade from the demon side and attempts to persuade him to abandon his human contract. Chrno refuses, but the confrontation forces him to draw upon his demonic power, accelerating the consumption of Rosette’s lifespan. Rosette intervenes, firing her modified pistol to drive Fiore back while Chrno struggles to maintain control over his own nature. The battle reveals that Fiore once served under the demon Aion, linking Chrno’s past directly to the organization they now oppose. After defeating Fiore, Chrno confronts the weight of his former identity and the cost his power imposes on Rosette. Rosette reaffirms her choice to remain bound to him, rejecting any notion of breaking their contract. The Magdalene Order learns that Aion’s plans are advancing and that demons from Chrno’s past are resurfacing. As they leave Remsen, Chrno’s sealed memories of his time with Aion begin to surface more clearly, setting the stage for a direct clash with his former master.
10Embrace
A flashback depicts a young Rosette Christopher praying in a chapel, asking God to heal her brother Joshua. Chrno appears, bound by a contract seal, and offers to save Joshua’s life in exchange for Rosette’s. She accepts, forming the demon contract that becomes the foundation of their partnership. In the present, Aion confronts Chrno and Rosette inside the abandoned cathedral where Joshua remains trapped. Aion reveals that he orchestrated Joshua’s condition and mocks Chrno for breaking his own seal to protect Rosette. Chrno transforms into his full demon form to fight Aion, but the uncontrolled power drains his life force and endangers Rosette. Rosette clings to Chrno, refusing to let him sacrifice himself alone, and her presence forces him to regain partial control. Aion withdraws, stating that he has accomplished his goal of showing Chrno the futility of his humanity. The battle leaves Chrno severely weakened, his horns permanently visible, and Rosette shaken by the revelation that her contract ties her directly to Chrno’s destruction. Remington arrives and confirms that the Order now faces a direct threat from Aion, who openly challenges their authority.

15The Demon
Rosette and Chrno traverse a barren desert when Aion appears before them. Aion addresses Chrno directly, questioning the nature of their contract and provoking Chrno’s suppressed demonic instincts. Chrno’s horn elongates and his power erupts uncontrollably, driving him to attack without restraint. Rosette screams his name and invokes the contract’s terms, forcing her own life force into the bond to halt his rampage. The struggle reveals that Chrno’s power intensifies with his rage and that the seal binding him grows weaker with each outburst. Aion exposes fragments of Chrno’s past identity and the betrayal that left him sealed, using the revelation to deepen Chrno’s internal conflict. Rosette continues to call out to him, placing herself directly in his path despite the physical harm she suffers. Chrno regains momentary clarity and retreats, leaving the contract visibly more strained than before. Aion withdraws after confirming the fragility of Chrno’s control and the accelerating toll on Rosette. Chrno’s sealed state now teeters closer to collapse, and Rosette faces the immediate reality that each use of their bond shortens her remaining time. Their partnership continues under the weight of a contract that now threatens to consume both of them before their next confrontation.
16Tranquil Days
Rosette and Chrno receive a rare day without assignments from the Magdalene Order. Rosette drags Chrno through a city fair, insisting on enjoying ordinary activities despite his reluctance. She buys a small accessory for him, and he awkwardly accepts it, pocketing the item without comment. Azmaria spends the day with Satella, who teaches her how to navigate crowded streets and manage her own safety. Sister Kate observes the group from the convent, noting how their temporary peace contrasts with the Order’s mounting intelligence about demonic activity. During a quiet moment, Rosette’s right hand begins to tremble uncontrollably, a sign of her contracted time with Chrno advancing. She conceals the tremor from him, masking it with forced cheerfulness. Chrno notices her evasion but does not press, instead offering to stay by her side longer than usual. The fair ends with a fireworks display, and Rosette asks Chrno to promise they will always have days like this. He gives no verbal answer, only watching the lights reflect in her eyes. The following morning, a sealed message arrives at the convent bearing the insignia of the outside world, pulling the Order back into active duty.
17The Saint
Rosette Christopher regains consciousness in a hospital bed. Chrno sits beside her,and she immediately asks about her brother Joshua. Sister Kate informs her that the Magdalen Order has located Joshua in a remote facility under Aion’s control. Chrno warns Rosette that to rescue Joshua, she must renew their demon contract, which will consume her remaining lifespan. Rosette accepts the terms without hesitation. Chrno releases his sealed form, his horns and wings emerging as the contract re-engages. The pair travel to the facility, where Aion waits with Joshua suspended in a containment chamber. Aion reveals he intends to use Joshua as a vessel for the demon Pandemonium. Chrno attacks Aion, but Aion’s regenerative abilities and demonic power match Chrno’s output. Rosette’s body begins to show the contract’s toll as she coughs blood and her vision blurs. Despite the physical decay, she continues to push forward, firing her blessed gun to support Chrno. Aion taunts them, emphasizing that each second of combat shortens Rosette’s life. The episode closes with Chrno unleashing a massive attack while Rosette collapses, her hand still reaching toward Joshua.
18Four People
Aion snaps off one of Chrno’s horns, releasing the demon’s original power but also stripping him of the seal that maintained his control. Chrno transforms into a raging beast, attacking indiscriminately within the Pandemonium. Rosette kneels before him and recites a prayer, reaching Chrno’s consciousness and halting his rampage. Azmaria and Satella find the pair and the group retreats through the shifting corridors of the demon city. Aion watches from afar, satisfied that the seal’s destruction has begun the process of consuming Rosette’s remaining lifespan. The group takes refuge in an abandoned chapel where Chrno explains that Aion intends to use Rosette’s time to shatter the barrier between Earth and Hell. Satella confronts Rosette about the contract’s cost, demanding to know how much time Rosette has left. Rosette deflects the question and insists she will stay with Chrno regardless of the consequence. Chrno proposes forming a new contract that would sever his connection to Aion and bind him entirely to Rosette, but the ritual would consume all her remaining life. Rosette accepts without hesitation, but Azmaria interrupts, begging them to find another way. Aion reappears with his subordinates, forcing the group to flee deeper into the Pandemonium. The episode closes with the four trapped between Aion’s forces and the unstable demon realm, their only hope resting on a desperate gamble.
19A Demon
Aion transports Chrno and Rosette to the Sinners’ Summit. He forces Rosette to witness Chrno’s suffering while revealing that her body has been absorbing demonic energy through the contract’s astral line. Rosette’s left arm, already showing signs of demonization, transforms further as she struggles to maintain control. Chrno breaks free and attempts to stop her transformation by reaching out to her, but Aion intervenes and pins him down. Rosette’s consciousness fractures as the demon inside her fully awakens, and she attacks both Chrno and Aion indiscriminately. Chrno shields himself but refuses to fight back, instead calling her name repeatedly in an effort to reach her humanity. Aion observes with satisfaction, noting that the demonization has progressed beyond reversal. Rosette’s body completes the transformation, and she emerges as a fully formed demon with no memory of her former self. Chrno realizes that the only way to save her is to destroy the source of the demonic energy, which forces him to confront Aion directly. The episode closes with Chrno facing Aion while Rosette, now a demon, stands beside her brother Joshua under Aion’s control.
20Wish
Aion drags an unconscious Chrno into the cathedral where Rosette lies wounded. He awakens Chrno by force, then presents Rosette as a hostage to compel Chrno to activate his demonic power. Chrno refuses, knowing full activation would consume Rosette’s remaining lifespan. Aion stabs Chrno with a horn from the Pandemonium, forcing the demonic contract to surface. Rosette, seeing Chrno about to lose control, seizes the contract and makes a new wish: to lend Chrno all her remaining time. The contract activates, and Chrno transforms into his full demon form, gaining immense power. Rosette’s body begins to age rapidly as her life force drains. Chrno attacks Aion with overwhelming force, destroying the cathedral around them. Aion escapes, revealing that the destruction serves his goal of opening the gate to Pandemonium. Sister Kate and the remaining Magdalene Order members witness the devastation from a distance. Chrno reverts to his child form and holds Rosette, whose hair has turned white and whose life now hangs by a thread. The episode closes with the Order facing the reality that the gate to Pandemonium is about to open, leaving Chrno and Rosette separated from the main group with no clear means to stop it.
21Episode 21
In the demon realm,Aion maintains control over Rosette, who has assumed a demonic form. Chrno confronts Aion and demands Rosette’s release. Aion reveals that the contract between Chrno and Rosette serves as the key to fully opening Pandemonium’s gates. Rosette, her will suppressed, attacks Chrno under Aion’s direction. Chrno refuses to strike back and instead calls to her memories and their shared time together. Azmaria, Satella, and Remington coordinate efforts on Earth to contain the spreading demonic energy from the gate. They witness the sky tearing open as the portal expands. Inside the demon realm, Chrno’s past with Aion surfaces: Chrno once sealed his own horns to limit his power, and Aion now exploits the broken seal. Rosette momentarily breaks through Aion’s control, her voice reaching Chrno. She pleads for him to end her life to stop the ritual. Chrno redirects his demonic energy to sever their contract, absorbing the full backlash himself. The contract’s dissolution causes Chrno’s body to begin disintegrating. Aion’s plan suffers a setback as the gate’s expansion halts, but Aion retreats, leaving Chrno and Rosette in the collapsing realm. Rosette regains her human form, but Chrno’s horns crumble, signaling his approaching death. The group on Earth faces the aftermath of the partial gate opening, with Aion’s ultimate objective still unresolved.
