Antonio Paiola

Antonio Paiola is an Italian voice actor born in Milan on February 14, 1941. He is known for a prolific career providing the Italian voices for a vast array of characters in anime, animated series, and films.
Paiola's artistic foundation was laid in theater. He graduated from the Accademia dei Filodrammatici in 1964. For approximately ten years, he performed with the Teatro Stabile di Bolzano and, in 1968, became part of the Teatro per ragazzi company at the Angelicum in Milan. In the 1980s, he began to focus more on dubbing, working out of studios in Milan and becoming a prominent figure in the industry.
His voice is featured in a wide range of anime and animated series. Among his many roles, he voiced Merlino in Entaku no Kishi Monogatari: Moero Arthur, and he took on two roles in Huckleberry Finn Monogatari, as both the Grandfather of Charlotte and the King. In the popular sports anime Haikyu!!, he is the voice of Coach Yasufumi Nekomata in series including Haikyu!! LAND VS. AIR. He voiced Raffles III in Fire Force and Juzo Kabuto in Mazinger Edition Z: The Impact!. He is well-known for his role as Daisuke Aramaki, the chief of Section 9, across various installments of the Ghost in the Shell franchise, including Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex 2nd GIG and the film Solid State Society. In the series Nel covo dei pirati con Peter Pan, he is the voice of the pirate Spugna, known as Smee. Other roles listed in his extensive filmography include Nonno di Nick in Ashita e Free Kick, Minister in Mirmo Zibang!, Daimon in Gaiking: Legend of Daikū-maryū, Prof. Kuro in Amazing Nurse Nanako, Barone in New Hurricane Polymar, Momoji in Black Lion, and Nonno in My My Mai.
