His voice acting career began in the mid-1990s, and he has since become a prolific figure in the Korean dubbing industry. Jeong possesses a deep, powerful, and intelligent vocal quality, often bringing a sense of authority and intensity to his characters, which has led him to be frequently cast in the roles of villains, final bosses, and strong paternal figures.

Jeong is perhaps most widely recognized for providing the Korean voice of Piccolo in the long-running Dragon Ball franchise. He has voiced the Namekian warrior across multiple series and films, including Dragon Ball Z, Dragon Ball GT, and the theatrical feature Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection F. His other notable anime roles include Kurogane in Tsubasa: RESERVoir CHRoNiCLE, Garuru in Sgt. Frog, Baki in both Naruto and Naruto Shippūden, Jack Gilliam in Chrono Crusade, Tochiro in Cosmowarrior Zero, Yuzuru Suou in Ouran High School Host Club, Abdul Hakim in Cowboy Bebop, Allan in MÄR, Warrior Volk in Avenger, Kruger in ZOIDS: Chaotic Century, Kyotaro Oshima in The Gokusen, Johnny Kobayashi in Penguin no Mondai, Kalos Eido in Kaleido Star, Barda in Deltora Quest, Hap in Eureka Seven, Liger in Monster Rancher, and Dekim Barton in Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz.

Jeong's voice work extends beyond Japanese anime to include Korean dubs of Western animation and films. He has also performed in live-action film dubs, including Thunderbolt Ross in Captain America: Civil War, as well as voice work for video games, portraying Johnny in the Guilty Gear series and Sigma in the Korean localization of Overwatch.

His vocal tone and acting style have often been compared to those of renowned Japanese voice actors Akio Otsuka and Fumihiko Tachiki, resulting in Jeong frequently being cast in Korean dubs for characters originally voiced by them. Before becoming a full-time voice actor, Jeong worked as a researcher for a major corporation. He has been active as a freelancer in the voice acting industry since 1998.
