"Gokusen" centers around Kumiko Yamaguchi, a young woman who becomes a teacher at an all-boys high school, Shirokin Gakuin. Despite her seemingly gentle demeanor, Kumiko is the heir to the Oedo Group, a powerful yakuza family. Determined to lead a normal life, she hides her yakuza background from her colleagues and students. However, her unconventional teaching methods and strong sense of justice often draw from her upbringing, creating a unique dynamic in the classroom.

Kumiko is assigned to Class 3-D, a group of delinquents notorious for driving away previous teachers. The class is led by Shin Sawada, a quiet but fiercely intelligent student who becomes Kumiko’s closest ally. Other notable students include Noda, a hot-headed troublemaker; Uchiyama, a class clown with a good heart; and Kuma, a gentle giant with a knack for getting into fights.
