Benjamin Pascal
Description
Benjamin Pascal is a French actor, musician, and author, born on July 3, 1978, who is primarily known for his extensive work in dubbing, particularly for Japanese animation. He began his performance career at a young age, starting theater at nine and playing the title role in The Little Prince at age ten. His entry into dubbing came in the late 1980s when he was discovered during a casting for the series Quoi de neuf, docteur?, though he ultimately had to decline the main role due to school commitments. After earning a degree in performing arts, he returned to dubbing and became a prominent figure in the field.
Pascal is recognized as one of the recurring voices in French dubs of anime, lending his voice to a wide array of leading and supporting characters. Among his most notable roles are Jean Kirschtein in the various installments of Attack on Titan, including The Final Season and The Roar of Awakening. He is also known as Taiga Kagami in Kuroko's Basketball and its film Last Game, as well as Ohma Tokita in Kengan Ashura. His filmography includes the role of Ken Wakashimazu in the 2018 Captain Tsubasa series, Horohoro Usui in both the 2001 and 2021 versions of Shaman King, and Ryoma Terasaka in the Assassination Classroom series and its concluding film.
Further demonstrating his range, Pascal voices Kiyotaka Ijichi in Jujutsu Kaisen and its prequel film Jujutsu Kaisen 0, Laurent Thierry in Great Pretender, and Itsuki Koizumi in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya and its film The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya. His work in the Fairy Tail franchise includes the characters Mest Gryder and Warren. He also appeared in the film Wolf Children as Sôhei Fuji and as Fabio Zaccheroni in The Ancient Magus' Bride.
In addition to his anime roles, Pascal is a frequent voice for live-action actors such as Zach Woods, Skylar Astin, and occasionally Ashton Kutcher. He also provided the voice for the antagonist Nox in the French animated series Wakfu. Beyond voice acting, Pascal was the third "Monsieur D" in the musical comedy duo Oldelaf et Monsieur D from 2008 to 2010. He has also authored two crime novels: La Petite Rouge (2023), which won the Prix du Suspense Psychologique 2023, and Poule Renard Vipère (2024).
