Description
Harry MacDowell, also known by his fearsome nickname Bloody Harry, is a central figure whose journey from street thug to the leader of a global criminal syndicate forms the dramatic core of the story. Raised in a harsh, abusive orphanage, Harry formed an unbreakable childhood bond with his best friend, Brandon Heat. This friendship would become the most significant and tragic relationship of his life, shaping his ambitions and ultimately leading to his downfall.

From a young age, Harry’s primary driving force was a desire for freedom, which he defined as the power to take what he wanted and give as he pleased. He is highly charismatic and intelligent, traits that allow him to easily manipulate people and climb the ranks of any organization. However, he is also impatient, ruthless, and willing to take any shortcut to achieve his goals. This ambition was hardened by the loss of several close friends in their youth, convincing him that the only way to protect his freedom was to acquire power by any means necessary. His ruthlessness in combat is notable; he is known to continue shooting a target many times even after it has fallen, ensuring its destruction.

Despite his cruelty, Harry’s personality is not without contradictions. He maintains a genuine, lasting affection for Brandon, often acting as the voice of encouragement for his quieter, more reserved friend. When the pair first rescued a young woman named Maria, Harry deflected her gratitude towards Brandon, correctly sensing a potential romance and supporting it. Years later, after betraying and killing Brandon to seize control of the Millennion crime syndicate, Harry is shown weeping over his loss. The guilt haunts him; during the resurrected Brandon’s assault on his empire, Harry initially refers to the avenger only as Beyond the Grave, unable to use his former friend’s name. Only when they finally confront each other directly does Harry break down, apologizing for his actions. He also shows a softer side by frequently visiting the orphanage where he grew up, bringing toys and gifts for the children there.

Harry’s role in the story is primarily that of an antagonist, though he begins as a close ally to the protagonist. His ambition leads him to orchestrate a coup within Millennion, a powerful syndicate he and Brandon joined as young men. He secretly invests in the forbidden science of necrolization, creating an army of near-invincible organic monsters called Orgmen. When his former mentor discovers his embezzlement, Harry frames him and has him killed. He then murders the man chosen to succeed the boss, Big Daddy, before finally killing Big Daddy himself to seize total control. In a pivotal moment, he reveals his plan to Brandon on an elevator, offering Brandon the woman he loves as a reward for helping. When Brandon refuses and pulls a gun, Harry shoots him first, killing him and sending his body falling into the darkness.

Thirteen years later, Harry has transformed Millennion into a brutal global superpower, profiting from selling his Orgmen to war zones. By this time, he appears prematurely aged, with gray hair, a physical testament to the stress of his position and his sins. His inner circle is known as the Big Four, consisting of loyal and powerful lieutenants like Bear Walken, Balladbird Lee, and Bob Poundmax. His relationship with Brandon’s resurrected form, Grave, becomes the central conflict. Despite ordering the death of Brandon’s loved ones and repurposing Big Daddy into a grotesque monster to destroy Grave, Harry ultimately accepts his defeat. He is driven less by a desire to fight and more by a recognition of his own guilt and the enduring, tragic bond with his best friend.

Harry does not possess the raw physical power of other characters, relying instead on his cunning, political acumen, and charisma to maintain control. His primary weapon is a standard firearm, which he uses with cold precision. His key strength is his strategic mind, allowing him to consolidate power, manipulate rivals, and develop projects like the Orgmen to build a technological and military advantage over his enemies.
