Kittan Bachika is a supporting protagonist from the anime Gurren Lagann, first appearing as the leader of a small group of Beastman hunters known as the Black Siblings. He is the only male member of this group, which includes his three younger sisters, Kiyoh, Kinon, and Kiyal. The siblings originally came from a village called Bachika, which was destroyed by Beastmen, leading them to live on the surface and seek revenge against their enemies. Before the events of the main story, Kittan managed to capture and claim a Gunmen for himself, which he later names King Kittan.

In terms of appearance, Kittan is a tall man with a well-built physique. He has spiky hair, which is blonde at the tips and brown at the roots, along with thick eyebrows that end in three distinct points. Before the seven-year time skip in the series, his attire consists of black, sleeveless shirts and black pants. After the time skip, his outfit changes to a darker blue with added red and gold details, reflecting his role as a government official while still maintaining a similar style.

Kittan possesses a personality that is brash, impulsive, and highly confident, sharing many traits with the character Kamina, who initially serves as his rival. He is quick to anger and often proclaims himself as a leader, but this exterior masks a deep care for his sisters and, later, his comrades in Team Dai-Gurren. After Kamina's death, Kittan briefly and self-proclaimedly takes over as the leader of the team. However, once Simon recovers from his depression over the loss, Kittan willingly steps aside and transfers control to him, demonstrating an underlying sense of responsibility and respect for Simon's growth.

Kittan's motivations are rooted in his desire to protect his family and to fight for humanity's survival. While he is initially a rival to Kamina, he eventually accepts Kamina's leadership and is inspired by his fighting spirit. This inspiration leads him to unite other Gunmen pilots to join their cause, an act that is instrumental in the formation of the main group, Team Dai-Gurren. Following the seven-year time skip, Kittan serves as the Chief of the Legal Affairs Bureau in the newly established Kamina City. He is not particularly interested in politics, and he ultimately resigns from his position after discovering a plan to evacuate only a small portion of the population, leaving the rest to die. This act of defiance shows that his core motivation remains protecting all of humanity, not just the elite.

Throughout the story, Kittan has key relationships with several characters. His relationship with Kamina evolves from a friendly rivalry to one of deep respect. He holds Simon in high regard, recognizing his potential and leadership after Kamina's death. He also develops romantic feelings for the character Yoko, which culminates in a final, poignant moment before his last battle. Perhaps his most significant relationship is with his three younger sisters. He shows a great deal of concern for their safety and well-being, acting as their fierce protector and older brother.

Kittan undergoes significant development, transitioning from a boastful rival to a selfless and heroic figure. His moment of greatest development comes during the battle against the Anti-Spiral. Trapped in an incredibly dense space sea created by the Death Spiral Machine, which no weapon can penetrate, Kittan volunteers for a suicide mission to destroy it. He kisses Yoko goodbye and pilots his King Kittan Gunmen straight into the machine's core. In his final moments, he fully awakens his own Spiral Power, takes a drill that broke off from the Gurren Lagann, and performs his own variation of a signature attack, the King Kittan Giga Drill Break, to successfully destroy the machine. He dies in the resulting explosion, freeing his comrades and allowing them to continue the fight.

As a Gunmen pilot, Kittan is highly skilled and a formidable fighter. His primary ability is Spiral Power, which he fully awakens at the end of his life. This power allows him to evolve, regenerate his Gunmen, and defy the laws of probability; his successful destruction of the Death Spiral Machine was an act with a 0% chance of success. His personal Gunmen, King Kittan, has several unique attacks. These include the Kittan Stinger, where the mech rams an opponent with its head, followed by the Hell's Headsplitter, where the head splits apart to destroy the enemy from the inside. In his final attack, he creates a drill two times larger than the standard Giga Drill used by the core mech, Gurren Lagann. Even without his Gunmen, Kittan possesses superhuman strength, having proven capable of hurting Kamina, who could withstand attacks from powerful Beastmen.
