Description
Allan is a foundational figure in the world of MÄR Heaven, known as a legendary warrior and a key architect of the resistance against the Chess Pieces. He is a former soldier of Lestava and the co-founder of the Cross Guard, a military organization that fought in the first great war six years before the main events of the story. Following the war, he holds the position of second-in-command within the Cross Guard. He is a man in his forties with tanned skin, dark eyes, and brown hair with lighter bangs, and he bears a pair of distinct scars on the right side of his face.

Allan’s personality is defined by a hardened, battle-worn exterior. He is often seen as a serious and overconfident smoker, a demeanor that stems from his immense power and legendary status. This toughness, however, masks a deep well of emotional trauma and guilt. His primary motivation is to protect others and atone for past failures, a drive rooted in a tragic childhood incident. As a boy, Allan was the toughest kid in his hometown and befriended a weaker, mistreated boy named Pump. In an attempt to help Pump gain courage, Allan shared a secret fire ARM with him. Pump instead stole the ARM, used it to brutally kill a pack of two-headed dogs, and then rejected Allan’s guidance, beginning a descent into cruelty that would eventually transform him into the dreaded Chess Piece, Halloween. Allan has always blamed himself for recklessly awakening the darkness in his friend’s heart.

This personal guilt fuels his role as a mentor and protector. He is responsible for summoning Danna Toramizu from Earth to fight in the first war, and later becomes a crucial guide and supporter for Danna's son, Ginta Toramizu. During the first war, Allan also intervened to save a young Alviss, who had been cursed by Phantom and was on the verge of suicide. Allan stopped him, insisting that choosing death would mean admitting defeat and that he should train to become stronger and decide his own fate. His key relationships are therefore central to the plot. He shares a deep bond of loyalty with Princess Snow, whom he protected by fleeing with her while trapped in a cursed form. He is also a close comrade of Gaira, the third-in-command of the Cross Guard.

Allan’s most defining characteristic throughout much of the story is a unique curse. During a fierce battle with Halloween in the first War Games, a curse from the Darkness ARM Igneil sealed him inside the body of Edward, the dog guardian of Princess Snow. The curse functions on a strict exchange: if Allan sleeps once, he transforms into Edward; Edward must sleep three times to transform back into Allan. This makes his condition volatile and inconvenient. This curse also has an unexpected side effect: after sharing a body with Edward for so long, Allan developed a severe allergy to cats, a weakness discovered during a later duel. This allergy gradually eases over time with repeated exposure.

Allan’s development arc culminates in finding closure for his past trauma. In a final battle, Halloween is revealed to be his childhood friend Pump, now fully corrupted. By defeating him, Allan is finally able to confront the source of his guilt. Later, his physical curse is resolved when Ginta uses a powerful Guardian ARM, Alice, to permanently separate Allan and Edward into two distinct beings. Throughout the story, Allan’s role is that of a powerhouse and a strategic veteran. He fights to protect his allies, provides critical training, and participates in the War Games, where his sheer strength is on full display, such as when he defeats a Rook and his Guardian ARM with a single punch.

In combat, Allan is an exceptionally versatile and powerful fighter who wields numerous ARMs. He has access to offensive ARMs such as Flame Dragon, which creates searing flames, and the Air Hammer. He also possesses tactical ARMs like Shadowman, which allows him to create shadows and mimic an opponent's abilities. Notably, he obtains the powerful Guardian ARM, Holy Hand, in the magical land of Caldia. His physical prowess is so great that it rivals the power of magical ARMs, allowing him to defeat enemies with his bare hands. His experience, power, and tragic history make him a cornerstone of the resistance and a legendary figure in MÄR Heaven.
