Laura Chapman

Description
Laura Chapman is an American voice actor known for her work in English-language dubs of anime series, primarily during the 1990s and 2000s. She was active with several Houston-based studios, including ADV Films, Seraphim Digital, and Sentai Filmworks. Beyond voice acting, Chapman is also a stage actor and a gifted singer, a talent that has been noted by her peers in the industry.

Chapman's career includes a variety of significant roles in anime OVAs and series. In the 1995 OVA Princess Minerva, she provided the voice for the character Kessley. She voiced Hardy Newland in the first episode of the 1996 OVA Power Dolls. Another prominent early role was Chiren in the ADV Films dub of the influential cyberpunk OVA Battle Angel, also known as Battle Angel Alita.

She is also recognized for her work in Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, where she voiced both Sylia Stingray and Galatea. Her performance as Galatea was particularly noteworthy; her ability to hold a note for long periods of time earned her praise from director Matt Greenfield. Her extensive filmography includes many other credits, such as roles in Neon Genesis Evangelion as an Eva Tech, RahXephon as Maya Kamina, Blue Drop as Shivariel, and Noir as Paulette. Chapman herself has jokingly observed a pattern in the types of characters she is cast to play, describing them as "the bitter woman who gets melted, put into specimen jars and blown up".
