Description
Maya Kamina is a central figure in RahXephon: Pluralitas Concentio, presented as the mother of protagonist Ayato Kamina and the secret leader of the Mu, an alternate-dimensional race. Her true identity is that of a Mulian who lost her qualification as an instrumentalist—a being capable of piloting the god-like mecha RahXephon and tuning the fabric of reality. Originally born as Maya Al Padis, she was one of twin girls discovered by Dr. Rikudoh in the Shrine of Time in 1989, emerging without memories of her Mulian past. She was adopted under the name Maya Rikudoh and later married Shirow Kamina, becoming Maya Kamina. She is actually Ayato's aunt and adoptive mother, having raised him as her own son.
Maya's personality is characterized by a calm, controlled demeanor and a deeply calculating nature. She is driven by a singular motivation: to orchestrate the "tuning of the world" in favor of the Mu, a process that would reshape reality. To achieve this, she needs Ayato to fully awaken as the instrumentalist.
