Karl Schulz is a German actor and voice actor born in 1945 who has built an extensive career spanning both on-screen performances and voice work for film and television. He completed his acting studies with Else Bongers and has been active on stage since 1965, making his film debut in the 1980s. His on-screen appearances include roles in popular German series such as Drei Damen vom Grill, Der Untermieter, Berliner Weiße mit Schuß, and Tatort.

Schulz is, however, most widely recognized for his extensive work as a voice actor, lending his voice to numerous characters in anime series and films for the German market. His roles in this field are numerous and include the character of Estefan in the anime series Black Jack. He is particularly well-known for voicing the character Umibozu, also known as the "Sea Demon," across multiple productions in the City Hunter franchise, including the special City Hunter: Death of the Vicious Criminal Ryo Saeba, as well as various films and television episodes. Another notable anime role is that of Megades in the series Kikou Keisatsu Metal Jack.

Beyond these specific roles, Schulz's voice can be heard in a wide array of other prominent anime. He is the German voice of Jet Black in Cowboy Bebop, and he has a long-standing association with the character Muten Roshi, voicing him in numerous Dragon Ball, Dragon Ball Z, and Dragon Ball GT films and series. His other anime credits include roles in Full Metal Panic? Fumoffu, Arjuna, Chrono Crusade, Digimon Adventure, Ghost in the Shell, and Kino's Journey, among many others.

His voice acting career is not limited to anime; he has also provided voices for a wide range of other productions. This includes his iconic role as the German voice of Mr. T as Sergeant Bosco B.A. Baracus in the live-action series The A-Team from 1983 to 1987. He has also voiced characters in the Star Wars universe across various films and animated series like Star Wars: Clone Wars and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. In animated productions, his work includes the character Meerjungfraumann (Mermaid Man) in the German version of SpongeBob Schwammkopf (SpongeBob SquarePants) and roles in films such as Pocahontas and Bärenbrüder (Brother Bear).
