Thomas Guitard

Description
Thomas Guitard is a French voice actor, television director, and artistic director born on November 17, 1977, in Paris, France. His path to a career in voice acting was not direct. He initially pursued musical training at a conservatory, where he earned a gold medal and an excellence diploma in piano. He then shifted his academic focus to film, obtaining a master's degree in cinema from a university. It was during this time that he began exploring voice acting by founding an association called GotohWan, which served as his entry point into the profession through various workshops and experiences.

Guitard has built an extensive career lending his voice to numerous characters in animated series, primarily for French-language dubs of Japanese anime. One of his notable early roles was providing the French voice for Jordan Wilde in the 2006 Franco-Japanese animated series Oban Star-Racers. His other prominent anime voice work from the 2000s includes Keiichi Maebara in Higurashi: When They Cry, Alviss in MÄR, Kanji Sasahara in Genshiken, and Keiichi Morisato in the Ah! My Goddess film. He also voiced multiple characters in the Gundam 00 series, including Graham Acker and Ribbons Almark.

A defining characteristic of Guitard's career is his deep and multifaceted involvement with the Wakfu franchise, which began in 2008. He serves as the artistic director for the animated series Wakfu and its related productions, a role he has held for many years. In this capacity, he oversees the French voice direction for the show. Furthermore, he is the primary voice actor for the character Sir Tristepin Percedal, a central figure in the series. His contributions to the franchise extend to voicing other characters like Moon and appearing in specials such as Mini-Wakfu and Ogrest, la légende. This long-term commitment to a single expansive project stands as a significant achievement in his career.

Beyond voice acting, Guitard has worked extensively behind the microphone in other capacities. In addition to his role as artistic director on Wakfu, he has directed the French dubbing for numerous other anime series. His directorial credits include Gundam 00, Gurren Lagann, Genshiken, and Tales of Phantasia: The Animation. He also worked in television as the host and director of Hall of Shame, a program for the French channel Nolife, and served as the channel's first male off-screen narrator.
