Akemi Okamura is a Japanese voice actress born on March 12, 1969, in Tokyo, Japan. She is affiliated with the talent agency Mausu Promotion. Okamura entered the voice acting industry in 1992 after graduating from the Tokyo Announce Academy and completing courses at Mausu Promotion's training center. Her debut role was as Fio Piccolo in the 1992 Studio Ghibli film Porco Rosso.
Throughout her career, Okamura has demonstrated a versatility in the characters she portrays, known for voicing both assertive women and younger male roles. Her filmography is extensive, spanning numerous television anime series, original video animations, and films since the 1990s. In the 1990s, she took on a variety of roles, including Priscilla in Calimero, Natsumi Hayama in Kodomo no Omocha, Belldandy in The Adventures of Mini-Goddess, and Anko Uehara in GTO: Great Teacher Onizuka. A significant milestone in her career began in 1999 when she was cast as Nami in the long-running series One Piece, a role she continues to perform to this day.
Okamura has also been a part of many other prominent anime series across different genres. Her notable roles include Shusui in The Story of Saiunkoku, Foop in the Futari wa Precure Splash Star series, Risa Koizumi in Lovely Complex, and Mayaya in Princess Jellyfish. She has a recurring role as the youkai Hinoe in the Natsume Yujin-Cho franchise, appearing in the television series and the films Natsume Yujin-cho the Movie: Ephemeral Bond and Natsume's Book of Friends: The Waking Rock and the Strange Visitor. She also voiced Saturn in the Pokémon anime series and its film Pokémon: The Arceus Chronicles. In video games, she is recognized for roles such as Sheena Fujibayashi in the Tales of Symphonia series, Kasumi Fujii in the Sakura Wars series, and Emmeryn in Fire Emblem Awakening.
