Description
Mayaya is a resident of Amamizukan and a core member of the Amars, the group of socially awkward otaku women who live there. Her defining obsession is with the Records of the Three Kingdoms, a historical Chinese text, and she constantly references its events and characters in everyday conversation, often making dramatic poses and shouting instead of speaking normally. She becomes easily excited, particularly when food is involved, and her long bangs completely cover her eyes. Her family includes an overbearing mother, a father, an elderly grandfather, and a cousin named Mami, who first introduced her to the Three Kingdoms and with whom she remains especially close.

Mayaya is hyperactive, loud, and prone to dramatic outbursts, yet she is fiercely loyal to her friends and to the sanctuary of Amamizukan. She works most closely with Banba, a train-obsessed otaku who serves as a calm counterpoint to Mayaya’s erratic energy. Initially, Mayaya is the most resistant among the Amars to Kuranosuke Koibuchi’s fashionable, “stylish” influence, viewing him with suspicion. Over the course of the story, however, she channels her intense enthusiasm into supporting the Jellyfish Dress brand, proving that her niche knowledge and boundless energy can be applied productively. Her notable abilities include an encyclopedic familiarity with Three Kingdoms history and a talent for using that knowledge to inject drama and humor into any situation, making her a central source of comic relief while also contributing meaningfully to the group’s endeavors.
