TV-Series
Description
Kanon Shimura is a main character in the series and a second-year high school student. She is known for her blonde hair, blue eyes, and a height of 162 centimeters, with her birthday falling on June 6. Her most significant background is her history as a rhythmic gymnast, where she was a fierce competitor of An Akagi since their middle school years.
Personality-wise, Kanon is defined by her intense and open rivalry with An. Having consistently finished in second place behind An during their gymnastics days, she developed a powerful drive to defeat her. This competitive fire was further fueled when An abruptly left the world of rhythmic gymnastics to pursue her interest in tokusatsu hero shows, which Kanon saw as an insult, as it meant An effectively vanished from the sport while still holding victory over her. Her motivations are almost singularly focused on confronting and surpassing An, making her rivalry the core of her character.
In the story, Kanon first approaches the main group when they are in need of a new practice location. Her initial role is that of an antagonist. As a rhythmic gymnast from another school, she reveals that she was responsible for pressuring the local shrine to reclaim their space from the girls. She challenges An to a race, promising to lift the pressure if An loses. However, the situation backfires when Kanon unknowingly quotes a catchphrase from An's favorite hero, which fires An up and leads to her winning the race instead.
Despite this rocky start, Kanon's role evolves. In a later incident, when one of the hero shows is threatened by rain, Kanon demonstrates her supportive side by showing up unexpectedly to act as an impromptu villain, encouraging An to fight until the very end of the performance. This act shows that her rivalry, while intense, is rooted in a deep respect for An as a competitor. Her primary relationship is with An Akagi, whom she calls her rival, and An affectionately nicknames her "Muramura-chan".
Regarding her development, Kanon transitions from an outside force trying to disrupt the hero activities to an active participant who helps ensure a show can go on. Her notable abilities are rooted in her athletic background as a rhythmic gymnast, which gives her the physical grace and agility to perform as a heroine. Her open and direct nature means her feelings about her rivalry are always obvious to everyone around her.
