Description
Waldo Ren, also known as Wald Ren, holds the rank of second-in-command within the elite Zeon unit Southern Cross Corps. Renowned for his precision sniping, he wields a customized anti-ship rifle with lethal accuracy. His tenure in the Southern Cross began under Cucuruz Doan’s leadership, preceding Doan’s desertion to safeguard orphans on Alegranza Island.
During the Battle of Casablanca, Ren’s tactical prowess emerges when he neutralizes two GM mobile suits and eliminates a target that had evaded his comrade, Yun Sanho. While showcasing his battlefield efficiency, this intervention fuels friction within the unit. Later, he joins a mission to activate concealed ballistic missiles on Alegranza, advancing M’Quve’s plan to intimidate Federation territories.
Ren and Sanho infiltrate the island’s underground missile base using aquatic mobile suits. After manually triggering the launch sequence, Ren departs to regroup, leaving Sanho as sentry. Returning to find Sanho’s destroyed unit and facing Amuro Ray’s Gundam, he attempts evasion but is fatally crushed in the clash. The launched missiles detonate prematurely in flight, nullifying his final act.
His allegiance remains firmly tied to the Southern Cross’s objectives, prioritizing military duty over personal ambition or narrative exploration beyond operational scope.
