Description
Licht was the leader of the elf tribe and one of its ten Apostles of Sephirah, living centuries before the main events of the story in an era when elves and humans coexisted. He was tall with fair skin, sharp facial features, golden eyes, and long white hair that he typically kept pulled back into a single braid. He was engaged to Tetia, a human noblewoman and the sister of Lemiel Silvamillion Clover, who would become the first Wizard King. This union symbolized a hopeful future of peace between the two races.
In his original life, Licht was known for his kind, compassionate, and gentle nature. He carried a strong sense of loyalty and love toward those he considered friends and bore an enormous sense of responsibility for his people. He believed deeply in coexistence and mutual understanding between humans and elves, and he worked alongside Lemiel to promote harmony. His motivations were rooted in peace, unity, and the protection of his tribe.
Tragedy struck when the devil Zagred orchestrated a massacre of the elf tribe by creating a cruel illusion that tricked the elves into believing humanity had betrayed them. In the attack, Licht lost his beloved Tetia, his unborn child, and nearly all of his people. Overcome by despair and grief, his four-leaf clover grimoire transformed into a five-leaf clover grimoire, and he allowed himself to become a demon, attacking the Clover Kingdom in vengeance. He was eventually defeated but used forbidden magic to ensure that the souls of the elves could be reincarnated in the future.
In the present timeline, Licht's role in the story is complex. His soul was placed into an artificial body, but he initially existed without his full memories, appearing as a quiet and detached figure. Meanwhile, a younger elf named Patri, who deeply admired Licht, had his soul reincarnated into the body of William Vangeance, the captain of the Golden Dawn. Patri, believing he was carrying out Licht's will, formed the Eye of the Midnight Sun and sought revenge against the Clover Kingdom. The true Licht eventually regains his memories and original personality after being awakened by Secre Swallowtail using her Sealing Magic.
Key relationships in Licht's life include his deep bond with Tetia, whose loss shaped his tragic fate; his friendship with Lemiel Silvamillion Clover, the first Wizard King, with whom he shared a vision of peace; and his connection to Secre, who remained loyal to him across centuries. After his full awakening, Licht also formed a meaningful alliance with William Vangeance, combining their magic to create a massive tree that channeled Asta's Anti-Magic to undo the Reincarnation Magic and free the possessed humans.
Licht's development follows a trajectory from a hopeful and benevolent leader, to a vengeful and despair-driven demon, and finally to a restored soul who chooses to aid in the defeat of the true villain, Zagred. He regains his original compassionate nature and helps guide the resolution of the elf-human conflict, ultimately choosing forgiveness and cooperation over continued hatred.
In terms of abilities, Licht possessed an immense amount of mana and was considered a magical prodigy. He wielded Sword Magic, which allowed him to materialize and control various swords from his grimoire, and he was also a master swordsman. His three signature swords later became known as the Demon-Slayer Sword, the Demon-Dweller Sword, and the Demon-Destroyer Sword. He also used Light Magic, which granted him incredible speed and the ability to create constructs of light. As an elf, he could use Ultimate Magic, a technique that produced extraordinarily powerful spells, and Union Magic, which allowed him to connect with and empower his allies. He was also capable of using Forbidden Magic, drawing power from the underworld, which he employed to counter Zagred's attacks. His speed was immense, allowing him to outpace even ki-sensing opponents, and his magic power was described as overwhelmingly vast yet not oppressive to his allies.
