TV-Series
Description
In the world of ClassicaLoid, Chopin is a reincarnation of the Romantic-era composer Frédéric Chopin, though his modern personality is a dramatic departure from the historically sociable pianist. He is an extreme introvert who prefers the confines of his room to the company of others. Often found hiding in a cardboard box or closet, he is prone to complaining of hunger and will only emerge from his self-imposed isolation to eat. His timidity is so severe that he is terrified of strangers and even animals, and he struggles to perform basic social tasks like opening the door for deliveries. This social anxiety leads him to communicate more easily online, where he becomes more active and has even forged friendships through social media, trolling, and spreading misinformation under the persona "Outcluse Walker Choppin'".
Despite his childish and reclusive nature, Chopin demonstrates a level of independence and responsibility that contrasts sharply with some of his housemates. He makes a living through his online activities, such as through video streaming, and is one of the few residents who consistently pays his rent. While he frequently mocks the situations around him and can be blunt, he shows genuine care for those he likes, particularly his close friend Liszt, and is considered a good listener to those who share his social struggles.
Chopin's primary motivation throughout the series is to avoid the pressures of public performance and human interaction, a fear that initially led him to leave the shadowy organization known as Arkhe and seek refuge in the Otowa Mansion. However, his character is not static. He experiences occasional "outcluse" phases where he spontaneously becomes more social and ventures outdoors with his camera to livestream his journeys. In these moments, or when he is the center of attention among an admiring audience, his demeanor shifts from shy to noticeably smug and confident. A significant part of his story involves his obsessive love for a virtual idol he created named Jolly, a relationship that mirrors the historical composer's famous affair with the writer George Sand and forces him to confront his preference for fictional worlds over real ones.
His key relationships are centered on the residents of Otowa Mansion. He has a deep and lasting bond with Liszt, a female reincarnation of his historical contemporary, who often acts as his protector, translator for his quiet mutterings, and connection to the outside world. He frequently clashes with the high-energy and chaotic personalities of his housemates Mozart and Beethoven, but cares for them nonetheless. He is also shown to be a good listener to others like Dovo-chan, who share his social struggles, and he uses his internet influence to help them.
As a ClassicaLoid, Chopin wields a powerful ability known as Musik, which allows him to manipulate reality by playing his own musical compositions. His transformation catchphrase is the Polish phrase "W nicości tworzę muzykę!" meaning "In nothingness I create music!". His extensive list of abilities is tied directly to his famous pieces. He uses Nocturne Op. 9 No. 2 to summon defensive towers or spheres. The Fantaisie Impromptu transports people into the digital world. His Waltz Op. 64 No. 1, also known as the "Little Dog" waltz, humorously transforms people into dogs, and he can even assume a canine form himself. The Raindrop Prelude allows him to summon rain, even indoors or over a single person's head. His more powerful forms include the Heroic Polonaise Op. 53, which transforms another person into a hero, and he once used his Grande Valse Brillante to give a virtual idol sentient life.
