Professor Franxx, whose real name is Werner Frank and who is most commonly called Dr. Franxx, is a scientist of central importance in the world of DARLING in the FRANXX. He is affiliated with the governing organization APE and is the figure most responsible for the development of the Franxx units, the bio-mechanical weapons humanity uses against the klaxosaurs. These machines are built from the skeletal remains of klaxosaurs excavated from the earth through a project known as S-Planning, and Dr. Franxx oversaw their construction and management. His body is heavily modified with extensive mechanical prosthetics on his head and hands, reflecting a lifetime of scientific work and a willingness to alter himself as part of his research.
