Description
Gigina Jardi Doruk Meleios Ashley-Bufh is one of the two main protagonists of the anime Dances with the Dragons. He is a striking and unconventional figure, known both for his extraordinary combat prowess and his deeply unusual personality. He works as a professional Jushiki-ist and bounty hunter, running a small agency in the city of Eridana alongside his partner, Gayus Levina Sorel.

In terms of background, Gigina is of mixed heritage. He is a half-breed, born of a human and a member of the Drakken, an elf-like race that places immense value on combat and has structured its entire society around the pursuit of martial excellence. This heritage grants him several physical traits common to the Drakken, including silver hair, steel-colored eyes, and pale white skin. His build is formidable; he stands nearly two meters tall and possesses a perfectly honed, muscular physique that others find almost impossibly beautiful. At 24 years of age, he already has a significant history as a dragonslayer and a military veteran.

Gigina's personality is as striking as his appearance. He is often described as arrogant, domineering, and dangerously proud, with a personality twisted to the point that his partner believes he is incapable of communicating with anyone else. His primary driving force appears to be a deep-seated love for battle. He is a self-described combat maniac and a master swordsman who lives for the thrill of a fight. This is balanced, or perhaps contradicted, by an extreme and unusual obsession: he is a furniture enthusiast who believes certain pieces are sentient. He has named his favorite chair Hiruruka, whom he considers his wife, and treats an armoire as his son. This obsession extends to his finances, as he is a terrible spendthrift who wastes a great deal of money on furniture, contributing to the perpetual poverty that plagues his agency. Despite his outwardly cold and cruel demeanor, he secretly keeps an illustrated diary written in a much more childlike, first-person perspective.

Gigina's role in the story is primarily as the brawn to Gayus's brains. The two form a highly effective but deeply dysfunctional team. They despise each other personally and agree on almost nothing, yet their combat synergy is flawless. Their dynamic is one of constant friction; for example, Gayus once accidentally broke a chair that Gigina had built, and Gigina immediately attempted to kill his partner with his oversized sword in retaliation. This partnership is central to his character, as their mutual reliance for survival and professional success forces a tense coexistence. Another key relationship is with his fiancée from his homeland, a woman to whom he reportedly does not dare to show any disobedience. There is also his professional relationship with Jivunya, Gayus's girlfriend, though their interactions are less central.

While the search results provide limited information on a detailed character arc over the series, they do establish a baseline from which he does not significantly change. He begins and largely remains a powerful, combat-obsessed warrior with a bizarre affection for furniture. His development is not characterized by emotional growth but rather by the deepening of his grudging professional respect for Gayus as they navigate complex political conspiracies and threats, such as those posed by a vengeful dragon named Nidvolk and a manipulative cardinal named Mordin Orjes Gyunei. His personal quirks and his role as the unstoppable fighter remain his defining and consistent features throughout the narrative.

Regarding his abilities, Gigina is an Offensive Jushiki-ist of a very high order, ranked at the thirteenth階梯 (kaidan), a metric of power and skill. His primary Jushiki system is focused on bio-enhancement, with secondary systems in bio-transformation and bio-generation. This specialization allows him to excel in close-quarters melee combat. He can summon armor, greatly enhance his own strength and agility to superhuman levels, and empower his weapon. His weapon of choice is an absurdly large and ornate sword named Nereto, the Dragon-Slaying Sword, which is nearly as tall as he is. In addition to his combat abilities, he is surprisingly talented as a furniture craftsman, building the very pieces he later comes to cherish.
