Description
Grayroad is a member of the Ten Commandments, the elite warrior force of the Demon Clan, bearing the commandment of Pacifism. She is not a typical demon but a rare queen-type and a mutated variant of the Gray Demon species. Her true form is a large, floating entity with a dark, gelatinous body covered in numerous gray, mask-like faces, standing approximately 480 centimeters tall and weighing 250 kilograms. Although lower-ranking Gray Demons have no gender, Grayroad is considered female and is capable of splitting her body into multiple independent parts, each corresponding to a face. She is 156 years old prior to being sealed away at the end of the ancient Holy War.
Her personality is defined by a cruel and strategic nature, viewing humans as disposable resources to be converted into demon soldiers. Despite her power, she displays a cowardly side, showing fear and attempting to flee when confronted by a superior opponent like Merlin. Her primary motivation is the revival of the Demon King and the subjugation of Britannia for the demon race, to which she has dedicated her existence.
In the story, Grayroad is revived from a three-thousand-year seal alongside the other Commandments and immediately participates in their campaign to conquer Britannia. She is initially partnered with Fraudrin, another member of the Commandments. When Fraudrin is captured by a group of Holy Knights called the Pleiades of the Azure Sky, Grayroad uses her shapeshifting ability to perfectly mimic one of their members, Dogedo, to trick them and secure his release. Shortly after, she joins the other Commandments in a coordinated assault that results in the temporary death of Meliodas, the captain of the Seven Deadly Sins. Following this victory, she and Fraudrin lead an attack on the kingdom of Liones. Her key tactic involves capturing powerless humans and implanting them with demon eggs to transform them into mindless Red and Gray Demons to do her bidding. This strategy is a direct consequence of her own commandment, which forbids her from killing directly.
The most significant relationship in Grayroad's story is with her colleague Fraudrin. They operate as a pair for much of their time after revival, with Grayroad actively working to rescue him and later supporting his siege on Liones. Her role as a member of the Ten Commandments defines her interactions with the other elite demons, including Zeldris and Estarossa, though she is notably less prominent than some of her peers.
