Description
Gerheade is a female fairy and a venerable figure within the Fairy Clan, holding an elder-like status due to her immense age of approximately 4200 years. She is the biological younger sister of Gloxinia, the first Fairy King who later became a member of the Ten Commandments. Following the death of the second Fairy King, Dahlia, Gerheade served as an advisor, a role she continued with the current Fairy King, Harlequin, also known as King. Her long life has been marked by the traumatic events of the ancient Holy War, which left her with visible, permanent injuries: she lost her right eye and both legs during that conflict.

Gerheade's personality is complex and shaped heavily by her past suffering. In the present day, she often appears mysterious, aloof, and stern, taking her duties as an adviser and the traditions of the Fairy Clan with the utmost seriousness. She is deeply respected by other fairies, who look up to her for her profound wisdom and insight. However, this exterior masks a deep-seated mistrust of humans, which stems directly from the betrayal she experienced three thousand years ago. This distrust initially manifests as open animosity towards Ban, a human who becomes involved with the Fairy King's Forest. Despite her harsh and sometimes seemingly ruthless demeanor, Gerheade genuinely cares for the safety and preservation of her fellow fairies and their forest home. Her personality in the present is a stark contrast to who she was during the Holy War; at that time, she was described as kind, cheerful, and empathetic, even feeling sorrow for enemy demons and forming friendships with humans.

Gerheade's primary motivation is to protect the Fairy King and the Fairy King's Forest. Her devotion to the Fairy King is so absolute that it is identified as both her hobby and her greatest weakness. She is a guardian of the clan's memory and traditions, having served under multiple kings across the millennia. Her actions are often dictated by a sense of duty to ensure the survival of her race and the prosperity of the Sacred Tree, even if it requires morally ambiguous actions, such as her early plan to use Ban as a living source of blood for the tree. Underneath her duty-bound exterior lies a deep well of personal regret, primarily concerning her inability to stop her brother Gloxinia from killing Rou, a human she cared for, and her guilt over not intervening against the atrocities committed by the Goddess clan in the name of victory.

In the story, Gerheade serves as a crucial link to the Fairy Clan's past and a guiding figure for its future. When Ban attempts to revive the forest, she confronts him, refusing to accept him as king and even threatening to destroy the preserved body of his loved one, Elaine, to further her own goals for the forest's survival. Later, when King returns, she becomes a steadfast supporter, protecting him and advising him. During the New Holy War, her knowledge of ancient events proves vital, and she participates in the defense of the forest alongside giants and other fairies. Her most significant role comes when her brother Gloxinia returns to put King and Diane through a trial. She reconciles with Gloxinia, forgiving him for his past actions and apologizing for her own perceived failures.

Key relationships define Gerheade's arc. Her relationship with her brother Gloxinia is central; after three thousand years of separation and regret over his fall to darkness, they finally reunite and forgive one another. Her tragic connection to the human Rou, who betrayed her side but also saved her life, ended with his death at Gloxinia's hands. This loss haunts her for millennia, but she later senses his soul in the fairy beast Oslo, who protected her, providing a form of bittersweet closure. Her relationship with humans evolves through her interactions with Ban; while she initially despises and fights him, she later attempts to apologize for her actions and promises to protect Elaine, whom Ban loves, showing a capacity for growth and reconciliation.

Over the course of the series, Gerheade undergoes notable development. She transitions from a figure stuck in her grief and prejudice to one who can accept change and forgive. Her attempt to manipulate and use Ban is eventually replaced by an alliance and mutual respect. Her tearful reunion and emotional reconciliation with Gloxinia allow her to let go of a three-thousand-year-old burden. By the epilogue, she is seen adapting to a new era of peace, even chastising other fairies for spying on Ban and Elaine, and expressing a wish that her lost loved ones could see the tranquility that now exists.

Gerheade's notable abilities are tied to her magic, which is called Guardian. This power allows her to control and manipulate plants, primarily using a wand to sprout and command massive vines and roots for both offensive and defensive purposes. Like all fairies, she possesses the ability to read the hearts of others, discerning their true thoughts and intentions. Despite her small stature, standing 152 cm tall, and her severe physical disabilities, her magical power is significant; her official power level is recorded as 2370, with the vast majority of that power coming from her Magic statistic of 1890. She has also demonstrated remarkable resilience, having survived for thousands of years without being sealed, far exceeding the typical lifespan of a fairy, and remaining conscious and combat-capable after sustaining grievous injuries that would be fatal to most.
