Description
Griamore is a Holy Knight from the kingdom of Liones and a prominent supporting character in the second season of The Seven Deadly Sins. He is the son of Dreyfus, one of the Great Holy Knights, and the cousin of the Holy Knight Gilthunder. Physically, Griamore is remarkably tall and muscular, standing 213 centimeters tall and weighing 181 kilograms. He has long, dark hair and typically wears distinctive armor that leaves his upper body exposed, giving him an appearance reminiscent of a gladiator.
Griamore serves as the personal guardian of Princess Veronica Liones, the second princess of the kingdom. His personality is defined by an almost absolute loyalty and devotion to Veronica, whom he has served since childhood. He is known to be a serious and dedicated knight who takes his duties very seriously, though his enthusiasm often leads him to try too hard, resulting in mistakes that earn him scoldings from Veronica. Despite his intimidating size and sometimes harsh demeanor in the line of duty, he possesses a kind and caring heart, especially toward those close to him. His feelings for Veronica are eventually revealed to be romantic in nature, going beyond mere loyalty.
Motivationally, Griamore is driven by a desire to protect Veronica at all costs and to live up to the example set by his father, Dreyfus. He considers it an absolute disgrace to fail Veronica, and a significant portion of his personal arc involves grappling with guilt over his perceived failures as a knight. In his youth, along with his cousin Gilthunder and their friend Howzer, Griamore was known as one of the Three Misfits of the capital for their pranks and mischievous behavior.
In the story, Griamore plays a significant role during the Vaizel Fighting Festival arc. When Elizabeth Liones is discovered in the town of Byron, Griamore attempts to apprehend her on Veronica's orders, but is swiftly defeated by Meliodas. He later participates in the fighting festival to recover Elizabeth, where he is defeated by Diane, who is disguised as the warrior Matrona. A tragic turning point occurs when the Holy Knights Guila and Jericho attack; despite Griamore's efforts, an explosion from one of Guila's mines fatally wounds Veronica. In her final moments, Veronica orders Griamore to protect Elizabeth, an order he emotionally fails to follow as he is overcome with grief.
After Veronica's death, Griamore blames himself and calls himself a disgrace as a knight. He later returns to fight alongside his father against the demon-possessed Hendrickson during the final battle for the kingdom. Following the war, Griamore journeys with Gilthunder and Howzer to uncover the truth behind recent events, eventually reconciling with the former villain Hendrickson.
Griamore's primary magical ability is called Wall. This power allows him to create incredibly strong magical barriers that can withstand attacks capable of destroying entire towns and are said to be unbreakable even by falling stars. He can deploy this ability in several forms. Perfect Shell creates a spherical barrier that can completely isolate and trap a target. Long Shield generates a large, rectangular barrier in front of him for defensive purposes. He can also expand his barriers outward to push enemies away. His power level is initially measured at 1520, though after being magically transformed into a weaker, childlike state during a trial, his combat class drops significantly to 410.
Key relationships define much of his character. His bond with Veronica is the most important, as he has been her loyal servant and protector since childhood, with their connection developing into a mutual romantic attachment. His father, Dreyfus, is someone he deeply respects and strives to emulate. Griamore is also good friends with Gilthunder and Howzer, the three having grown up together. Perhaps one of his most unusual relationships is with the demon Fraudrin, who had possessed his father for years. Despite Fraudrin being an enemy who caused his family great suffering, Griamore recognizes that the demon also showed him a form of genuine parental love during that time, leading him to build a grave for Fraudrin after his death.
Griamore undergoes notable development throughout the series. He begins as a confident if occasionally clumsy knight, but the trauma of failing to protect Veronica humbles him deeply and forces him to confront his own limitations. His journey to the Druid village subjects him to a magical trial that transforms him into his younger, weaker self, which represents his deepest fear. This experience forces him to rely on others and overcome his insecurities. Ultimately, after the Holy War concludes, Griamore is restored to his original form by Veronica's kiss, and he goes on to live a happy life with her. In the sequel series, Four Knights of the Apocalypse, Griamore is said to have become the king of the neighboring country of Dalcmunt.
