ONA
Description
In the anime Devilman Crybaby, Hie is a supporting character who serves as the beatboxer for a small, tight-knit group of street rappers, performing alongside his friends Wamu, Gabi, Babo, and Kukun. Physically, Hie is short and has light tan or pinkish skin, with brown dreadlocks that fall over his eyes, making them not visible. His typical attire consists of overalls worn over a hoodie, and he almost always keeps his hands in his pockets. He also has a small star tattoo located on his collarbone.

True to his role as the group's beatboxer, Hie is defined by his profound quietude and stoic demeanor, rarely speaking a single word throughout the series. He maintains this composed exterior even in the face of extreme danger, such as when he is held at gunpoint by the police and refuses to comply with their orders, a situation that is only resolved when the officers realize the "weapon" in his pocket is actually a recorder. While he is taciturn, his primary creative expression and social bonding come from providing the rhythmic, flowing beats that serve as the foundation for his friends' rap lyrics.

Despite his quiet nature, Hie's motivations are strongly rooted in loyalty to his friend group, particularly to Kukun. This loyalty, however, becomes a destructive force following Kukun's disappearance after attending the Sabbath party. When Miko, a friend of the Makimura family, accidentally drops a bag containing Kukun's distinctive sunglasses, Hie immediately notices and jumps to the conclusion that she is responsible for Kukun's death. As society collapses into paranoia and mob violence, and after Ryo Asuka publicly reveals Akira Fudo as a Devilman, Hie’s grief and suspicion curdle into violent action. He is quick to draw a pistol and threaten not only Akira but also Miko.

This marks a tragic turning point in his role within the story. Hie and his friend Babo eventually betray Wamu and Gabi, whom they see as traitors for sheltering Miko, and are implied to have killed them off-screen. Hie then joins a mob of armed rioters to hunt down Miko and Miki Makimura. He is present when Miko is shot and cornered, and he points his gun at the injured female Devilman. In the final stage of his character development, Hie is completely consumed by the hysteria and madness gripping the world. He is last seen in a state of delirious exultation, waving the desecrated remains of his former friends, alongside the bodies of Miki and her mother, Akiko, which have been impaled on pikes in front of the burning Makimura house. His story ends when Akira arrives at the scene and, in a fit of overwhelming rage and grief, incinerates Hie along with the other murderers. Hie possesses no supernatural or demonic abilities; his role is defined by his human talents of beatboxing and, ultimately, by his capacity for violence with firearms.
