Description
Kaede is a teenage girl who appears as a supporting character in the OVA Lostorage conflated WIXOSS -missing link-. She was a Selector during the second round of Selector Battles, which took place before the events of the main Lostorage conflated WIXOSS television series.
In terms of appearance, Kaede has long brown hair that she often wears in pigtails and purple eyes, and she has a notable beauty mark on her chin. Her typical outfit consists of a pink cardigan worn over a brown and white dress. She is estimated to be around fifteen to sixteen years old.
Kaede possesses a deeply self-deprecating personality and carries a significant amount of inner darkness. She is characterized as being shy and sensitive, with a background that suggests she may have come from an abusive environment, as she believes everyone is out to blame her. In this flashback, set six months prior to the main events of Lostorage conflated WIXOSS, Kaede is shown engaging in a Selector Battle against Kiyoi. At the time of this battle, Kaede had only one coin left, meaning she was on the verge of losing her existence as a Selector. During the fight, while Kaede was panicking, her LRIG Layla began taunting her, telling her to stop acting like a frightened kitten and to embrace her desire to make everyone disappear. This psychological manipulation caused a physical manifestation of Kaede's inner darkness, which emerged from her body as a black hole and engulfed her, effectively possessing her. Under this influence, she ordered Layla to grow and used a Coin Bet Skill called Doping to launch a fierce attack. However, the damage from the battle was reflected back, causing Kaede to lose her final coin and vanish, which subsequently allowed Layla to take control of Kaede's physical body.
Kaede’s most important and defining relationship is with her LRIG, Layla. Initially, Layla appeared to be a friend, but she ultimately worked through the cracks in Kaede’s broken heart to take advantage of her. Layla manipulated Kaede’s heart and mind to force her into losing battles so that Layla could claim her body, referring to Kaede with contempt as a disgusting woman. Kaede’s other key relationship is with the Selector Kiyoi Mizushima, who was her final opponent. Kiyoi, who had intended to let Kaede win, instead witnessed firsthand the moment Layla successfully stole Kaede’s body.

Her development is therefore tragic, as she is a victim who is psychologically broken and then erased by her own LRIG.
