Description
Aki Kashii, also known by the alias Knight, is a character from the visual novel and anime series DYNAMIC CHORD. He is a first-year high school student and a member of the progressive rock band rêve parfait, where he serves as the drummer and primary lyricist. He stands 179 centimeters tall and has short brown hair with spiky bangs and brown eyes.

As the older brother of Reon Kashii, the band's vocalist also known as King, Aki is characterized by a calm, gentle, and carefree nature. He is a refined and kind individual who rarely gets angry. Despite his outwardly relaxed demeanor, he struggles with low self-esteem and becomes anxious easily, lacking confidence in his own abilities. This internal uncertainty contrasts with his role in the band, though it directly informs his motivations as a musician.

Aki was the driving force behind the formation of rêve parfait during his third year of middle school, when he invited his best friend, Kuon Tsukinohara, and his younger brother, Reon, to join him. He deliberately chose the role of drummer because he sees it as a way to provide musical support from the background, wanting to bolster Reon and Kuon rather than stand in the spotlight. His role as the band's lyricist is also central to his identity, as his unique and delicate outlook on the world helps define rêve parfait's distinctive musical style.

In the story, Aki is a childhood friend of the protagonist, Atano Rio, and shares a close bond with her as well as with Kuon, who is both his best friend and an upperclassman. He is portrayed as an exemplary older brother who cares for Reon in a quiet and unobtrusive way, a trait that Reon himself appreciates and takes pride in. His primary relationships are defined by his supportive, familial role and his desire to see those around him succeed, even as he privately grapples with his own self-doubt.

While Aki initially appears as a supporting character in the main rêve parfait story, the Append Disc version of the game expands his role significantly, giving him his own romantic route and an Encore scenario that follows his story after the formation of a relationship. This development allows for deeper exploration of his character, moving beyond his identity as simply a supportive brother and friend. His notable abilities lie in his drumming, which forms the rhythmic foundation of the band's progressive rock sound, and his songwriting, which captures the unique worldview that sets rêve parfait apart.
