Princess Itsukishima, whose name appears in the Japanese version as Ichikishimahime, is a supporting character in the anime Katana Maidens: Toji no Miko. She is an aradama, one of the hostile supernatural beings that the sword-wielding shrine maidens known as Toji are trained to exorcise, but she stands apart from most of her kind because of her unusual goals and her direct connection to one of the most powerful aradama in the setting.
Her background is tied to the origin of the great aradama known as Tagitsuhime. During an incident referred to as the Kamakura Special Hazardous Waste Leakage Issue, this great aradama fell and divided into three separate beings. Ichikishimahime is one of those three offspring, along with the princesses Tagitsuhime and Takirihime. The split occurred as the great aradama left the body of Yukari Origami, a Toji who had been connected to it, and this shared origin links the three princesses to the larger history between aradama and the shrine maidens who once contained them.
