Description
Standard is an American mercenary recruited into GHOST, a private military group founded by ex-Public Security Section 9 operatives following its dissolution. Operating during the era of "Sustainable War," GHOST profits from conflict zones. As a member, Standard participates in missions across war-torn regions, including operations on the American west coast such as defending a Californian city against raider attacks and aiding in the capture of rogue elements supplied by anonymous benefactors.

His role positions him as an outsider among the core Section 9 veterans. He adopts a flamboyant and humorous demeanor, embodying a "funny agent" archetype reminiscent of American cop films. This style earns him the derogatory nickname "Clown" from Batou, underscoring the cultural and operational divide between Standard and the original Section 9 members.

After GHOST's mission to capture the post-human Patrick Huge under NSA agent John Smith's directive, Standard's involvement ends abruptly. To sever ties securely, Major Kusanagi implants him with false memories of his GHOST service. His real memories are encrypted within a payment file, accessible only via a password known to the Major, erasing his connection to GHOST and Section 9's activities.

Following GHOST's disbandment due to Section 9's reformation, Standard exits the narrative. He does not reappear in subsequent operations, investigations into post-human threats, or any later official media including the second season or compilation films. His departure occurs early in the series with no further development or mentions.
