Description
Mayu Amisawa is a supporting character in Comic Girls, serving as the editor for the aspiring manga artist Kaoruko Moeta, who uses the pen name Kaos. She is a young woman in her early twenties, specifically twenty-three years old, and is easily recognized by her short glaucous hair, hazel eyes, and a yellow hairpin worn on the left side. She wears semi-full dark brown round glasses and is often seen in her work clothes, though she dresses differently outside of work. Mayu has a small stature and a bob haircut.

In terms of personality, Mayu is direct and honest to the point of being blunt, frequently giving Kaos tough feedback that sometimes hurts her feelings. She is strict about deadlines and paper quality, yet this sternness stems from a genuine care for Kaos and a desire to see her improve as a manga artist. Mayu can appreciate Kaos’s storyboards but sees greater potential in her, which is why she frequently rejects her work; she pushes Kaos to try harder rather than settling for mediocrity. Despite her critical nature, she shows kindness and support in her own way. Mayu has a soft spot for sweets, particularly cream soda and hard gummies, and enjoys playing darts after work. When she drinks alcohol, she becomes unusually emotional.

Before becoming an editor, Mayu herself drew manga in high school and understands the creative process firsthand. This background allows her to give practical, experienced guidance. Her primary role in the story is to act as a professional mentor and motivator for Kaos, helping her grow from a struggling, insecure new creator into a more confident and capable artist. Over the course of the series, Mayu’s relationship with Kaos deepens beyond a simple editor-author dynamic, as she learns to balance her strict expectations with genuine encouragement. While Mayu does not undergo dramatic personal change, her interactions reveal a subtle warmth and a commitment to her work that makes her an effective and memorable editorial figure.
