Description
Chiyuki Shiohara is the driver for the Suzuka Girls Academy sidecar racing team, representing Mie prefecture in the national high school tournament. Raised in a wealthy family, she is an honors student who stands at the top of her school's social circle. In contrast to her elite background, her partner and passenger, Misaki Nagai, comes from a family with limited financial resources and must work to support her education. Chiyuki was the one who personally recruited Misaki to join her as a teammate.

Despite her privileged upbringing and status as a popular and seemingly perfect girl, Chiyuki possesses a delicate and sensitive personality that is easily hurt. She can display a willful side, but her overall nature is that of a gentle and caring individual. The relationship between Chiyuki and Misaki is a central part of their role in the story, with their dynamic being framed by their opposing social positions. The partnership is strained, not due to animosity, but because of misunderstandings born from their different backgrounds and a mutual, unspoken recognition of the other as a true friend. The two often do not get along well, creating a tangible tension that affects their performance as a team.

Throughout the series, Chiyuki and Misaki are one of several rival pairs that the narrative focuses on, providing insight into the various relationships and personal challenges faced by the competitors. Their story arc explores how their friendship transcends their different social standings. A notable moment in their development involves Chiyuki confronting a specific fear related to high-speed cornering, which ultimately impacts the larger race. As the driver, Chiyuki possesses the fundamental abilities required for sidecar racing, including vehicle control and strategic maneuvering, though she initially struggles with certain techniques like taking sharp turns due to her apprehensive nature. Her partnership with Misaki is known by the team name Lightning Tornado.
