Janina Dietz
Description
Janina Dietz is a German voice actress, singer, and moderator with a multifaceted career spanning animation, live-action dubbing, and music. Born in Celle in 1982, she grew up with a strong foundation in the arts, participating in musical early education, choir, and piano lessons during her childhood, and later performing in school theater productions. After completing her Abitur in 2001, she moved to Berlin for university studies while simultaneously undergoing professional training in singing, speech, and acting. Her voice training included coaching under Karim El Kammouchi, and she also took part in acting workshops, including a session at the Actors Institute in Boston.
Dietz's career is notable for its diversity. While she has been active in anime voice work since at least 2016, her professional activities also include a significant presence as a radio moderator in Berlin starting in 2009, work as a studiosinger for commercials and film, and live performances as the frontwoman of her rock band, Janina and the Deeds (JATD). This band, which she founded in 2010 with guitarist and producer Robert Papst, achieved chart success in Germany and garnered international recognition, including performances at the Rock and Pop Masters Festival in Florida and an Akademia Award in Los Angeles. Her musical talents have also led her to compose and sing for various advertising campaigns and film soundtracks.
In the realm of anime, Dietz has lent her voice to a wide array of characters across popular series. Her roles include the enthusiastic Tome Kurata in Mob Psycho 100 II, the caring mother Yuriko Hori in Horimiya, the mysterious Yuugiri in Zombie Land Saga, and the narrator in Cells at Work!. She also voiced Christin in the twenty-third season of Pokémon Journeys: The Series and its subsequent seasons, as well as Satomi Kanahara in Godzilla: Singular Point. Beyond the titles listed in the prompt, her filmography includes the role of Ange in Cross Ange and Chiyuki Shiobara in Two Car.
Dietz's work is not confined to Japanese animation. She is also an established voice for live-action dubbing, providing the German voice for actresses such as Rose Byrne, Kristen Stewart, and Alison Brie. Her voice can be heard in numerous series and films for streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon, as well as in documentaries and commercials for major brands. In addition to her on-screen work, she has lent her voice to video games, most notably as the protagonist Kate Walker in Syberia III.
Based in Munich, Dietz continues to expand her creative portfolio. Alongside her voice acting and singing, she co-hosts a podcast called Monacofieber, which focuses on the cultural scene and personalities of Munich.
