Description
The Servant known as Archer of Red is one of the seven heroic spirits summoned by the Red Faction in the Great Holy Grail War. Her true identity is Atalanta, the legendary chaste huntress from Greek mythology. As a princess of Arcadia, she was abandoned on a mountainside at birth by her father, who had wanted a son. She was saved and nurtured by a she-bear, a sacred animal sent by the goddess Artemis, and grew up to become a peerless hunter. In her mortal life, she participated in the hunt for the Calydonian Boar, where she was the first to draw blood, and she also joined the crew of the Argo as its only female member.

Archer of Red conducts herself with an archaic manner of speech and possesses a worldview that is as selfish and practical as that of a wild animal. For her, stealing food or killing to survive are natural acts. Despite this feral pragmatism, she is deeply compassionate toward children and will unhesitatingly help any unfortunate child she encounters. This trait is the source of her greatest wish for the Holy Grail: a world where every child can grow up surrounded by love and care, as she was not. This wish is a direct result of her own traumatic abandonment and her desire to repay the kindness she received from the goddess and the bear who saved her.

In the narrative of Fate/Apocrypha, Archer of Red is initially summoned by a mage named Rottweil Berzinsky, but her effective Master becomes Shirou Kotomine, the overseer of the Red Faction, who exerts control over her through command spells. Although she follows his orders, she harbors a significant personal disagreement with him, finding his methods and philosophies distasteful. She serves as a powerful long-range combatant and scout for her faction, utilizing her enhanced senses and agility to track and engage enemies. Her relationships with other Servants are notable. She is relentlessly pursued by Rider of Red, Achilles, whose romantic advances receive no response from her due to her deep-seated distrust of men, a consequence of a forced marriage in her legend. However, a grudging respect and battlefield camaraderie develops between them. Her most pivotal relationship is with Ruler, Jeanne d'Arc, whom she grows to resent after being corrupted by a curse from Assassin of Black, leading to a bitter conflict in the story's final act.

Archer of Red's character undergoes a tragic development. While generally composed and dedicated to her ideals, her determination to save all children is twisted during the Great Holy Grail War. Afflicted by a deadly curse, she becomes convinced that Jeanne d'Arc's own principles are an obstacle to her wish, leading to a direct confrontation. In her desperation, she unleashes her second Noble Phantasm, Agrius Metamorphosis, which transforms her into an uncontrollable, rampaging monster. In this state, she loses her sanity and attacks indiscriminately. To stop her and preserve her honor, Rider of Red is forced to sacrifice himself to kill her, ending her role in the war.

As a Servant, Archer of Red possesses a formidable array of abilities befitting one of history's most famous archers. Her personal skills include Crossing Arcadia, which allows her to traverse any terrain or obstacle with ease, and Aesthetics of the Last Spurt, which enables her to always act after confirming an enemy's move, effectively allowing her to counterattack. Her primary weapon is the Tauropolos, a massive black celestial bow gifted by Artemis. Her most commonly used Noble Phantasm is Phoebus Catastrophe, a B-rank Anti-Army attack. This technique involves firing a complaint letter arrow to the gods Apollo and Artemis, who respond by showering the battlefield with a relentless downpour of light arrows capable of covering a wide area or concentrated on a single target. Her second and more dangerous Noble Phantasm is Agrius Metamorphosis, the Boar of Divine Punishment. Wearing the pelt of the Calydonian Boar she slew, she gains immense power and a form of Mad Enhancement, but at the cost of losing her rationality and her identity as a Servant, becoming a feral beast of calamity.
