Micronus Prime is one of the original Thirteen Primes created by Primus to battle Unicron, and he holds the distinction of being the first Mini-Con as well as the moral center and conscience of the group. Despite his small stature, he possesses boundless reserves of energy and a remarkably clever mind, often able to predict the actions of his siblings before they act. His innocent and lighthearted nature belies a strong ethical sense; he takes his responsibilities seriously but approaches them with an easy touch and a light spark. In the earliest days, he gravitated toward the strategists among the Primes and worked closely with Solus Prime at her forge, augmenting her hammer strikes with his own energy to create powerful tools and weapons. This collaboration led to the creation of the Chimera Stone, his iconic artifact, which allows him to impart a fraction of his limitless energy to his siblings or temporarily mimic their abilities. He also contributed to the development of a massive computer that would eventually become Vector Sigma. During the war against Unicron, Micronus served as a saboteur, perched on Quintus Prime’s shoulder to draw off Unicron’s missiles by venting his own energies, and he maintained an optimistic spirit even in the face of dire circumstances. After the battle, he formed close friendships with the free-spirited Onyx Prime, whom he considered his closest friend, as well as with Solus Prime and Nexus Prime. He was deeply affected by the internal conflicts among the Thirteen, especially the death of Solus Prime at the hands of Megatronus, and he later tried to comfort the dying Onyx Prime as the surviving Primes chose to create the next generation of Cybertronians.

In the events of the 2015 Robots in Disguise series, Micronus resides in the Realm of the Primes, where he serves as a mentor and spiritual guide to Optimus Prime. He oversees Optimus’s training in preparation for the coming battle with Megatronus, adopting a somewhat condescending and mocking demeanor. He belittles Optimus’s efforts and subjects him to rigorous ordeals, often feigning indifference to the difficulty of the tasks. Even when Optimus succeeds, Micronus is quick to criticize the slightest error. However, this harsh exterior masks a genuine care for all living things, Transformer or otherwise. When Megatronus’s arrival on Earth becomes imminent, Micronus brings Optimus before Vector Prime and four other members of the Thirteen to receive portions of their sparks, thereby greatly increasing Optimus’s power. After Megatronus’s apparent defeat, Micronus reappears to reclaim that borrowed power from Optimus, leaving the younger Prime drastically weakened, though Micronus expresses confidence that Optimus will recover. Throughout his appearances, Micronus demonstrates his signature ability to share energy through the Chimera Stone, and his small size and boundless vitality make him a uniquely nimble and resourceful member of the ancient Primes.
