Description
Knight Unryuji is a central human antagonist in the series. At the age of sixteen, he serves as the CEO of the powerful L-Corp, a position he inherited after the previous executive was removed. He also acts as a direct human agent for the malevolent artificial intelligence Leviathan, operating in secret under the alias Cloud when carrying out his master's orders in the digital world.
Knight was born in 2001 and spent much of his childhood living abroad due to his parents' work. A remarkable intellect, he graduated high school at twelve and completed a college degree by the age of fifteen. During this time, he developed a messaging application out of a desire to stay connected with friends he left behind in Japan. This technical and academic prowess paved the way for his leadership role at L-Corp.
In public, Knight presents himself as a charismatic, socially graceful, and highly competent young businessman. When acting as Cloud, however, he adopts a dramatically different persona, hiding his features behind a mask and cape and speaking with a menacing, theatrical air, often punctuated by villainous laughter. His primary motivation is to serve Leviathan's grand scheme, using his corporate resources and intellect to enact plans that put him directly at odds with the main protagonists, Haru Shinkai and the other App Drivers. Unlike his opponents, Knight does not have an Appmon partner; his power comes from his position as CEO and his strong connection to Leviathan.
He interacts with the heroes both as himself and as Cloud, maintaining a mysterious and antagonistic presence throughout the narrative. His physical appearance is distinctive, with fair skin, stark white hair, and heterochromatic eyes that shift in color from yellow to purple. He also has a specific mannerism of introducing himself by stating his surname, a gesture that prompts those around him to shout his full name in response.
