Description
Charismon is a dramatic Appmon from the anime Digimon Universe: Appli Monsters, serving as a major antagonist. It holds the rank of Ultimate, the highest level for a standard Appmon, and its application is Mind Control, belonging to the Social attribute. Charismon is formed through the App Gattai fusion of Gossipmon and Sorcerermon. Its design features red and silver armor similar to its rival, Globemon, often accompanied by a dark cape, with multiple red eyes adorning its body, reflecting its unsettling nature.

As the designated leader of the Ultimate 4, the group of four powerful Ultimate Appmon who serve as the primary enforcers for the villainous artificial intelligence Leviathan, Charismon is presented as the most composed and genuinely menacing of the group. Unlike some of its comrades who exhibit more comedic traits, Charismon consistently displays a serious, loyal, and ruthless demeanor. Its core personality revolves around a belief in the manipulation of information and will. True to its application, its primary ability is to use masterful speech and projected thoughts to cast spells on others, effectively brainwashing and manipulating anyone who falls under its influence. It views its actions as part of an inscrutable grand plan orchestrated by Leviathan, showing unwavering loyalty to its master until the very end.

In the story, Charismon is the main antagonist of the second major story arc. It is introduced alongside the other members of the Ultimate 4 as a direct threat to the protagonist, Haru Shinkai, and his friends, the Appli Drivers. Charismon personally engages in combat against Haru’s partner, Globemon, acting as a dark parallel or antithesis to him. During their first battle, Charismon overwhelmingly defeats Globemon, destroys Haru’s Appli Drive, and seemingly kills Gatchmon, inflicting a crushing emotional and physical defeat on the heroes. Its power is further amplified when it receives the L Code from Knight, allowing it to steal the power of other Appmon and easily defeat the entire team of protagonists. Even in victory, it coldly follows Leviathan’s hidden orders to eliminate its own ally, Knight, revealing its absolute subservience.

The key relationship for Charismon is its rivalry with Globemon, a connection that is both visual and thematic, representing two sides of the same coin. It also serves as the direct subordinate to Leviathan, carrying out its will without question. In the final battle, Charismon is ultimately defeated by a powered-up Globemon, who uses the Overdrive function to achieve victory through the power of human and Appmon bonds, something Charismon dismisses. Following its defeat, its data is collected but remains disabled and unusable. In a final development, Charismon and Globemon are later forcibly combined, merging into the God-grade Appmon Gaiamon, putting an end to its individual existence as it becomes part of a higher being. Its notable special moves include Seele Gewalt, where it creates and hurls a black orb covered in eyes at the opponent, and Aleph Ein.
