Description
Maeda Tōshirō is a supporting character in the first season of Touken Ranbu: Hanamaru, where he is among the many sword warriors, or Touken Danshi, living in the Saniwa`s citadel. In the Japanese version of the anime, his voice is provided by Reona Irie, while in the English dub, he is voiced by Ryan Reynolds.

As a member of the Awataguchi school of swords, Maeda Tōshirō is often seen in the company of his fellow Awataguchi blades, such as Hirano Tōshirō, with whom he shares a close and easy camaraderie. The two are frequently shown working together on daily chores and patrolling the grounds of the citadel, contributing to the slice-of-life atmosphere that defines the series. His personality aligns with the more reserved and dependable members of the group. In one instance, when a group of swords gets distracted by various goods during an errand to a general store, Maeda Tōshirō is the only one who remembers the purpose of their trip, demonstrating his focused and responsible nature.

His role in the story is primarily that of a reliable resident within the bustling citadel, supporting the main cast and participating in the comedic and heartwarming events of daily life. He is seen engaging in typical activities around the citadel, such as working in the fields. Though he is not one of the central protagonists like Yamatonokami Yasusada or Kashuu Kiyomitsu, his presence helps to build the rich, communal world of the anime. The series does not provide extensive detail on his individual development or background as a historical sword, focusing instead on his interactions within the larger ensemble of characters. Notably, he is also one of the sword warriors who serves as an attendant to the unseen Saniwa, the master of the citadel, assisting with various tasks and orders. While his specific combat abilities are not highlighted in the same way as some other characters, his consistent presence and level-headed demeanor mark him as a steady and valued member of the citadel`s community.
